Pins in Jar - Advice?

Hello again everybody. I'm back with another question, unfortunately! I scoured the shroomery for any information about this, but seemed to find very conflicting information. I inoculated seven PF Tek jars on 2/8 or so, so almost a month ago. I noticed yesterday that one (maybe two) of my jars have pins inside of them despite them not being fully colonized. I am hoping some more experienced people could tell me if this is okay. Should I simply pull them off before dunking and rolling? Should I leave them on for the dunk and roll? Are they contams? Any advice is appreciated. Again, I have searched on here but found some pretty conflicting information so I'm hoping I can get some more help here. This is my second grow (first one was a failure) and I followed the updated PF Tek that is on here.

Did you inoculate next to the glass? What temps do you keep them at? That's a pretty weird growth pattern. The mycelium looks weird too. Did all your jars look similar?

Yes, I did inoculate next to the glass. They're generally about 70 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the day, and around 64 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the night. They have ambient sunlight all throughout the day, which I was thinking may be the reason why they've already pinned. All jars look very similar (minus the pins) and look like they're healthy mycelium to my rookie eye.

I hate to necro this thread, but I really want to try to get some more advice here. My pins are getting very big, and I still can't tell if they're fully colonized. I'm convinced some of the dry verm barrier has fallen onto the sides which is why they might not be fully colonized. Any advice is very appreciated.

Cakes shrink as they're colonized. Not out of the realm of possibility for some of the dry verm layer to fall into the void. Those pins are freaking huge. Not even sure you can call them pins anymore. You should put the cake into fruiting conditions.

lol they’re done man. How old are they?
That one shroom looks nice, they should all blow up as soon as they get air.
Usually once the bottoms done let it consolidate for a week and you’re set.
What’s happening is the myc is eating the cake and pulling it together so it’s shrinking and the verm is falling down. Totally normal.

Thanks for the replies! My jars were inoculated on 2/8/20, although some of them still have a ways to go as far as colonization is concerned. I appreciate the input, I really do. I'd just hate to birth them and get a contam because they're not fully colonized, you know? I have to ask, what do you guys think I should do with the mushrooms that are currently on the cake? Pull them off or should I leave them on for the dunk and roll?

Pull them off.
Normally they’ll only pin when they’ve been at 100 for a minute, or have contaminates.

I would birth them at that point. Usually you wont see pins on a cake that isnt 100% or at least close to it (at least in my experiences). The top of the jar can be misleading as the verm layer will fall a little as the cake shrinks from moisture loss. Are the bottoms colonized? If the bottoms look good, then youre probably good to go.
You can either pluck the mushrooms that are on them, then dunk and roll as normal and put into your SGFC, you can put them direct into the SGFC and let those grow out and see what other ones form, or you can dunk and roll them with the pins still attached then put them in your SGFC.
Ive done all 3 (granted, my pins were still pins, and yours are pretty much fully formed shrooms at this point), and Id rather pick them off and dunk/roll. But thats just what I do, because I want to keep a uniform flush and harvest at once.

Thanks for the additional replies, everybody.
I'm going to go ahead and birth some of the jars today that are colonized on the bottom. When I pull the pins off, would I be okay to use a fan to dry them until my dehydrator comes in the mail?
