First time grower. Had given up thinking they weren’t working, and procrastinated the clean up for a week. When I clean again they had sprouted! This is day two of noticing, and I’m not sure if they look healthy or not.

It looks good. They say the first fruit which often looks mutated is usually the primo fruit. Save those bad boys!

First flush, not even sure how to do a flush haha Unsure of the strain.. my buddy found an old syringe in his freezer, can’t grow anymore with kids in the house, so we hoped we’d get lucky at mine. This was a practice run.

I have read that freezing is not survivable for spores several places but if you think about it is probably not true. In nature in the places where cubes grow wild there area winter freezes and spores live through the winter and sprout when conditions are right. I have a friend in the medical field who works in a "tissue bank" . This friend says freezing is not usually very hard samples if it is done right. The problems start with repetitive freeze / thaw cycles. Again, I have read the warnings about freezing so I don't know this for sure. It would be great to see someone experiment with freezing. Freezing could add a great deal of flexibility to storage.

Yes I used frozen spores
No I have never tried to use frozen spores
Yes the spores worked
No the spores failed
Freezing kils the spores
Freezing happens in nature so it propibly works fine.

Spores can survive almost anything, mycelium of tropical mushrooms usually cannot survive freezing

I think they meant hydrated spores.

Yes, the situation described was a found an "old spore syringe" in a friend's freezer. It makes sense intuitively (to me) that tropical races might be more susceptible to freeze damage. On the other hand all of the cubes floating around are probably mixed genetically unless you get someone's wild collected fresh. Still I claim no expertise in this.... just a guess. I would love to see an experiment on this.

Well... they grew. Despite being frozen The looks just about ready to harvest I’d say.

Don’t harvest they still have another day at least!
lol what’s going on with that middle cake, there’s like a platform of myc coming out from under it?
Also idk a lot about cakes so maybe you’re following a tek, but normally they do better with the foil cut just slightly bigger than the cake is.
