Our short existance.
    #2651852 - 05/08/04 12:24 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So we live just a short moment in the glimpse of things. Wouldn't it be neat if we could see beyond our lives. Like come back in another form many years or decades after our time to rejoin this lifestream of things and have the wonderful and also not so wonderful experiences all over again. To return to this world would be such a delight to start over as a kid, when one is young and the world around them seems to untouched. Till one grows to a certain age and starts to experience new things. If only i could pause my life around the situations that made me extremely happy and forget all the points in time when i was sad. To hold onto only the good memories and have nothing bad to talk about because all you've had in your life is wonderful things. What a journey it would be to come back after many years to see so much grand change in things. To see a new after all has passed us by. What if you came back when the world has changed so much that you would have failure to recognize the things of this time. Some type of time travel perhaps where one could still see the things in the past but live in a different time. Science holds many answers to things that may or may not be possible in our time, but maybe in the future we will be capable of such wonderful things.

Peace,
Droz

It's possible, if reincarnation is true. However, unfortunately, upon reincarnation, we do not usually remember the times we were here before.

Does anyone know of any "true" stories of someone being hypnotized into remembering previous lives, and whether the recounting of those previous lives was verified with historical accounts?

even if u remembered on the happy stuff... i think you would still stratify or rank the happy thoughts.. in turn having really happy thoughs and... not as happy thoughts.. so no matter what there would always be some sort of negative

That is simply impossible to prove. I sigh at such attempts to discover something so fundamental as reincarnation. empirical evidence will never prove these abstract philosophical ideas by definition. It is thought and logic that will show us the truth.

Short compared to what? Certainly compared to the age of the earth, or the lifetime of a giant sequoia tree, but I'm pretty sure we live a hell of a lot longer than a common housefly. I've already outlived my dog. Time is relative.

Well duh! Obviously the universe had to exist before us if we inhabit it.

Speaking of inhabiting since we inhabit the universe. What does the universe have to inhabit other then space and time?

Not so obvious. You are assuming that the universe began right there. It's so easy to make assumptions when trying to fathom the nature of existence and making assumptions like this come instinctively to us due to the nature of our existence. If the universe never began, it didn't exist before us but it exists with us regardless of any existential time-line.
