very slow mycelium growth * 1
    #26517036 - 03/04/20 06:11 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I used the spores from Mushrooms.com two syringes to inoculate 4 bags of sterile rye in January. After creating a small amount of mycelium, growth has utterly stalled. Per their recent recommendation, I soaked one of the bags in sterile water for 8 hours and allowed to drain. Still no movement. Considering that I have four different bags and almost no growth in any of them, is it possible that the spores were weak?

How long ago did you inoculate?
Didn’t read that right what are the temps like where the bags are?

The bags and/or your syringe is contaminated. You could try new bags, unfortunately you most likely will get the same results, or new syringes but that won't guarantee success. Practice agar, then practice some more.
Spores are technically for microscopy so no vendor name.

How many CC's did you inject? What conditions are the bags kept in? Did you use a sab?

Mushrooms.com was really good about this. They offered to replace the syringes for the cost of the shipping.

you have to test your syringe on a smaller batch or on agar (that's the better choice). those bags are ruined but I cannot tell the reason why

Vendor spores are for microscopy use only.

Either grains are super wet or that bag is full of bacteria.

Looks like both to me. Mycelium does not grow well on super wet grains or bacterial grains.
