Why do these strains look so different
    #26517049 - 03/04/20 06:18 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

My first time growing. These are B+ taken from the same syringe, why does the middle one look so different than the others? Will it result in a different type of mushroom? Should I favor one strain (is that the right word) over the other? How big should I let it get before transferring to grain?

Sorry for all the questions. Still trying to figure this out, but I'm way more excited about watching these grow than I expected to be.

The middle plate is displaying what is known as rizomorphic (rope like) growth which is a stronger more aggressive type of growth. It’s an excellent sign from what I have found in my experience. Looking good man, congrats!!!

I think colony of Variety B+ would be better verbage. They are all P. Cubes.

Rhizomorphic growth is easier to work with because it is organized mycelium. It makes it easier to see any potential contamination in your culture.

Tomatose Mycelium is less organized growth and is harder to see hidden contaminations.

Both if clean will produce cultures and one is not better genetically from the other. It is just easier to use organized growth over fuzzy hard to spot with the naked eye growth.

Sexy rhizo plate. They are plenty big enough to take multiple transfers from each if you want.
