Psilocybe moseri from Pastaza, Ecuador 8

Psilocybe moseri is a species that I have spent six years looking for, and last week I finally saw it in Pastaza, Ecuador. It is in Psilocybe section Zapotecroum, and most closely resembles Psilocybe muliercula, differing by preferring a tropical habitat and is slightly smaller in size. Like P. muliercula, it likes disturbed, muddy soils. It was described from Chiapas, Mexico in 1995, but is more common in central and south America.

Wonderful! When you want them cultivated, let me know
You didn't talk to Cactu while you were down that way did you? Or was he in Guatamala? Been a long time since we talked. Miss him dearly.

Like most extremely rare species, no one has ever eaten them that I know of.

They aren't viscid, they were wet with spray from the waterfall.

Alan, just curious, is that your phone you're using to provide subtle "flash" light for the shots?
Looking at your pics, I'm thinking I should have gone into mycology, or at least biology. I did a lot of work on volcanoes, but was always distracted by the ecosystems that were affected by the eruptions. Anyway... great shots!

I used a handheld flash to illuminate these, I left the shutter open for about five seconds and flashed the flash about 20 times from different angles. The phone I was using to take pictures of them. You can see my phone pictures here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/38690791

I knew it wasn't a literal question, but I had the photo and I really was scoping Psilocybe moseri when it was taken, so I figured it'd be a good one to post.

It was.. though I may have broke the zoom button.
Is that toilet paper in the background? You may want to hide that. Or run an add on Ebay.
