Opinion on used goods 4

I pretty much wont buy anything that’s new unless I ABSOLUTELY have no other choice. I even get a lot of my favorite clothes on eBay pre owned in great shape. A lot of ppl think it’s weird that I’m down with buying ANYTHING used, even shoes; if they are clean or like new I can steam em and they’re good as new, ALMOST. Cars are much the same. Do you like paying for the warranty and peace of mind of new or are you a DIYer who loves second hand markets like eBay etc. ??

Literally everything I buy goes through a filter of trying to find it used first. Not everything ends up being used but for the most part I can usually find what I need especially if I'm not in a hurry.

Depends on what it is. I'll buy a second hand stereo or car but would rather drop the bit extra and get new white goods with extended warranties. It's nice to have good stuff that works properly as well rather than second hand shit with issues. I used to deal with those issues but not anymore. I avoid buying clothes, but when I do it I'll get them new but on markdowns and runout specials.
I'm always on the lookout for awesome second hand stuff though. Sometimes people have legit reasons for flogging stuff off cheap. I got a massive toolbox full of tools for $20 the other month, the box was work considerably more than that even before looking inside.

Most of the stuff i buy off eBay is used. However, for clothes, i typically want new cause used clothes are usually faded or too worn out (or both).
But for most stuff, lightly used is the way to go. eBay FTW

Most of my clothes are from thrift stores but there are some items I bought new. I'll buy footwear from thrift stores if they are in really pristine shape. Never socks or underwear though. Don't expect to buy a car new any time soon.

I do have a bathing suit I bought from a thrift store and I guess the same principle applies. I dunno, I washed it.

I buy a lot of used stuff. Go to thrift stores regularly. Sell used stuff on eBay too.
For more expensive items I usually check out pawn stores first. TVs, computer, consoles, speakers, monitors, instruments. All used when I think about it.
Never bought a new car. Though I have bought cars that were only a few years old. Can't imagine buying a brand new car for any reason.

I am identical to your habits, sir. My latest score was a $900 bike near new for $250.
As well as 99% of clothing purchases. I don't need to be like this financially, but I just don't see the point that it must be new, tuck the saved funds away for vacations, etc.

nice score! It’s great when u snag a deal on something you’ll actually use like a bike. I won my second torch (Beth bravo) on eBay BRANDY NEW for 770 retail was 1100 bucks plus tax shipping all that nonsense.
I ended up trading that torch for more than they retail for too. It was a double come up

Picked up a pair of Wallace sterling silver goblets all tarnished and dented for $6... sold to the pawnshop for over $200. lol.
I also used to buy brass there and make a 20% or so profit scrapping it out.

Almost everything used except most clothing and handguns. Vehicles can be used but with low miles. I've spent years with cheap old cars and I am tired of fixing them and wondering when they'll leave me stranded.

Some things are only worth buying new unless you lack any financial or longterm decision making skills. Like a new car. Sounds awesome and bougie as fuck son, but new doesn't make it good. Consumer reports, failure rates, and recalls don't come out for years and years afterward. Imagine buying a nice shiny new BMW and finding out the failure rate for head gaskets and valves was near 100%. There are Honda's that are holy grail kinda shit and other years you couldn't pay me to own, the only way you know that though is by buying used and letting the market whale pay the lot pricing

My motto is, never pay full price for ANYTHING, EVER! (if you can help it)
I don't mind buying used stuff, but I look for newer stuff (clothes etc...) on sale all the time.
