The Acadian Coast is actually Canada, from whence the Cajuns came from.

My friend wants to try this with a couple empty mycobags he has sitting around. Could someone give him a good guesstimate of the amount of brf/verm/water/straw to use for each bag? He would like to get enough out of both bags to use for a bulk grow. How about for a 1/2 pint jar? Thanks alot!

Creekfarmer The Strain of cubes called Acadian Coast,is certainly not from Canada if that is what you mean.

Nickster The recipe i used is for quart jars,so i would use about double the recipe. As far as how much straw, well i just soaked a whole bunch overnight drained it,and then added about a handfull to the mix per jar.I eye balled it so i cant be more specific on that.I would either use the recipe i posted in the first post,or doubble it,more than that and too much time will pass before it is fully colonized. For a 1/2 pint jar, just divide the recipe.

the acadian coast refers both to louisiana and the new brunswick area. the "strain" of cubensis in question originated from the louisiana version of the acadian coast. this is assuming the information I recall reading was correct.

here's a random quote pulled from a google result:

he first Acadian arrivals in Louisiana primarily settled in two locations: Attakapas (now St. Martinville) and along the Mississippi River. Those who went to the Mississippi River settled just upriver from the German Coast. The Acadian settlement, which became known as the Acadian Coast, was primarily in St. James Parish. This later became known as the First Acadian Coast, when the Acadian settlement spread upriver (to form a Second Acadian Coast) to present-day Ascension Parish.

First signs of contams. The 2 jars i cased with coir developed a bright orange mold ive never seen,so it was tossed.Luckily they are all isolated from each other so i didnt have to worryt about it spreading, but it was odd, never saw that before.

So far so good, the only contams are those 2 Qts on straw.
The invitro have a few small pins so far and the casings are doing well, but have slowed a little .
