So im having surgery on the 12th on my wrist and ive been freaking out about it. I had surgery over 2 years ago on the same wrist and just now feel somewhat normal.
I guess i have more cysts inside my wrist, and a bunch more shit they wanna do again that i can't remember the words for but its alot due to my injury.
I was spossed to have surgery last month but i had peumonia and the flu really bad.
The past few days ive been having really bad anxiety about it surgery and the recovery process. Yet at the same time im hurting bad , i hope this one helps.
The first surgery i had the dr told me to quit cannibis a few days before surgery and ive been trying to cut back for a week to quit this week before surgery but damn cannibis helps me so much.
Maybe i should call the surgeons office and tell then im having anxiety about this process?
I feel stuck and lost about this.

Absolutely let them know, both that you're feeling anxiety and you still want to continue with the surgery. This way they can know how to help you.
If you can try some meditation. Keep in mind surgeons are very good at what they do, far better than letting the problem linger. Good luck to you, it'll be much better once it's over.

The anxiety will go away with the anesthesia. Then you'll wake up and it will all be over.

I had surgery on one of my lungs due to bacterial pneumonia. They had to cut me open on my back and split my ribs apart. The surgeon said he had to reach his hand in there and peel my lung off the inside of my chest cavity.
Had to have the same surgery twice, woke up with tubes coming out of my chest for drainage.
Everything will work out as God has planned.

I would say it's not nearly as serious as that chest surgery, and it's normal to have anxiety about being put under for a surgery no matter how serious or simple. I actually wanted to be an OR nurse, but the state boards for RN have proven too tough for me, for now. I am still an LPN in pain management though.

It's challenging to have the same surgery again, as you know what you're in for.
The third time my lung collapsed was a real mind fuck. What helped me was a belief that there will be a time when it's over and everything will be OK. I would focus on that belief and feel the relief that it's all in the past and that would relieve much of the anxiety... until it was time for them to pull the chest tubes out haha!
We're with you in spirit. When you get really spun, just think of all the collective love that's here for you.

DUDE, you got a straight up blood eagled. Like the Vikings did. And since you were under you probably didn't scream, which means you'll make it into valhalla!!

I actually may be able to help the exact same thing happened with my shoulder but when the 2nd surgerycame around delaying it because I felt n9rmal at the time made it worse. Now I may be in more pain then before my last surgery but that's because I didn't take psychical therapy serious and the national opioid epidemic fucked me on my muscle spasms. Personally for both surgeries I did not have to slow or quit cannabis. Even with an endoscopy that I had an age 15 or so the doctors and first said that I couldn't have cannabis but when I explained to them that that was what helped me with my nausea I had some before and after. With an endoscopy there's more risk because of your Airways being obstructed, spasms and what not. But I've never had a problem.
I know it's scary going into the second surgery especially considering how much the first one was painful and the recovery process is bitch for surebut as long as you do the physical therapy I think you'll be feeling much much better in about 6 months depending on the severity of the injury.

Thanks guys. So my injury is workers comp back from 2014! Took me over a year last time to lift a gallon of milk with my bad hand, as an example.
I did all the PT and ot after surgery last time. Although i did milk the therapy and got an extra 4 visits , so 10 weeks of therapy 2 times a week.
I dont have many people to talk to about this, and the people i do, dont really understand what its like both physically and mentally. Not just the surgery but the past 6 years of my life, dealing with drs and lawyers and comp court etc. I fucking hate this shit.
Thanks again yall

I understand it a lot. We see a lot of work comp patients here, pain management too.
