Hey all!
First time poster here - I need some help finding good psilocybe foraging spots. I have good experience with mushroom identification, but am not familiar with good spots around Melbourne. Could anyone PM me with some pick spot locations (preferably Inner North, or out the north and west of Melb)? I am a considerate forager, I swear!
Happy foraging, everyone!

Welcome to the shroomery.
You can’t ask for spots on this forum. You should check these out if you’re in need of some guidance as how to look for them.

Thanks for sharing those guides Nickoloxious! I've been out there searching to no avail. I have found all the look alikes though lol. I thought maybe I was cursed but I do live in a very cold frost prone area and the one lonely sub I did find was in a shaded gully (which bobwastaken said is likely to be an area that fruits first)
It's great to see the discipline and strategy people employ !!
I'll be back out tomorrow but with better planning.

Went back out today went home with a couple more handfuls of mushrooms, seems to me a couple of my spots are drying back up need some good rain soon, wondered if anyone had some smart ways of getting a few litres of water out to their spots before without looking super suspicious carrying around heaps of water.

Maybe a water bladder backpack (similar to a camelbak) from K Mart. They cost about $12.
I had a cracking day today. 6 trays on the dehydrator all up. Got some big suckers which are finally growing in the open on woodchips in my area. Until today I'd been crawling through scrub like an idiot to pull in under 100g wet. Today I reckon I pulled in 300g wet in about 2 hours of looking at Tanbark!
It should be noted I have big hands!

Cheers for the kind words.. but other than hours on top of hours of researching and observation walking through local parks, state Parks, and occasionally Nat Parks, I guess it just comes down from experience and a bit of fortune on the day.
Without breaking the rules of the forum- for those out there looking for tips, personal top strategies involve: staying within 10-100m from a water source (river or creek), using white gum trees as natural sign posts as a preference of eucalyptus sp. I also keep in mind where water run-off leads and in my experience they're less likely on slopes terrain & more likely on inner lower plateaus, where local flora, fallen trees, will store and keep a particular area moist and well suited for the P. Subs to grow.
Otherwise attention not just to moist areas with bark etc, but also how soft the ground is. If hard, or very soft, like mud less likely. Almost zil point looking over moss or stoney ground. Thin native ferns can also be a good indicator and of course, other similar looking mushrooms.
No doubt there's plenty of adequate forum descriptions on the exact conditions they like, and don't won't to break the rules of the forum so feel free to PM if anyone has any questions.
As for today, luck striked again, couldn't believe it but 30min of looking and found this smallish patch, plus these few bonus taken with my camera! Enjoy

Second year properly hunting in Melbourne, after moving from Wellington NZ where I was a suburb + bush hunter for 10 years.
It's amazing seeing the lookalikes to P. subaeruginosa here, there are a lot of doppelgangers!
Found 70 gms wet the other day, and 4 of these very delicate and small specimens which I'm sure are of the Psilocybe genus but unsure as tho their specific taxonomy...
Looking forward to hitting up some native bush soon, happy 2020 to this amazing community!

Went for a walk locally (Mooraboolshire) after having no luck last week and found a handful.
First post on the forum and trying to navigate the ID pages. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I have a couple of pictures I would like another opinion on.
Most appreciated.
