Temperature range for bucket tek pasteurization
    #26512062 - 03/01/20 10:47 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

About to make some mono tubs. I’ve had really great success using bucket tek for pasteurizing coir/Verm mix. I’ve had to buy some new buckets with different lids than I normally use. Upon opening the new buckets up with new lids I noticed the temperature wasn’t as hot as it normally would be. After about 2 1/2 hours the new buckets and old buckets were around the same temperature around 100 degrees, but the old ones were definitely a bit warmer  to the touch which is weird. Should I be worried? What are y’all temps around the 2 hour mark for pasteurizing in buckets? Thanks

You don't pasteurize in a bucket but irregardless, temp isnt an issue. Coir and verm are non nutritious so no special needs there, people do it with cold h20. Pasteurize temp is 145 for 30 min.

Bucket tek is not pasteurization, so no, you should not be worried. Coir or verm doesn't need to be pasteurized, which is why the tek works. The heat just cooks the coir, which supposedly helps growth. I think there is some discussion on the validity of that last statement, but the evidence is clear that coir and verm need no pasteurization.
