Hello guys,
One question, have searched around a bit but find shared opinions on this. Can you use an instant pot pressure cooker that reaches 10 psi to sterilize a grain bag / spawn bag with rye grains?

Yes it just takes longer than 15 psi PC, it can be done. Someone smarter than me may be able to provide a calculation, I’ve seen a chart on this site somewhere that explains it also.

10 psi takes about twice as long to sterilize than 15 psi, 3-4 hours vs 1.5-2 hours.

Is this a real one as you mean? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-P25344-8-Litre-Pressure-Steaming/dp/B00UN596F2
If so, what degree of heat should I use on the stove of 1-6?
Thank you for helping me out

Oh ok..
I found this one also, the manual states that "Operation Pressure" is 60 kpa (8.70226426 psi) and "Maximum allowable pressure" is 100 kpa (14.5037738 psi).

But I wonder what size to choose. Is 8 liters enough space? Or 10 liter better? I will sterilize spawn bags with rye grains. The spawn bags is 1 liter (1 quarts).

You want to hit 15 psi. You can use lower pressure, but you need to cook it longer. You'll quickly grow tired of 4 hour cycles.

Thanks guys. I ended up ordering a presto 23 qt So now that part is done. The next part is to make grain spawn. And I thought I would do the rye spawn. First let it soak for 12h, then boil and simmer it for 10-15 minutes. And then let it dry.
Then I thought about putting them in a polypropylene spawn bag that has strip filters and injection port. https://www.mushroomkit.co.uk/product/mushroom-growing-bags-medium-x-10-1kg-injection-port
What I wonder then is if I should just fold over the bag before I put it in my pressure cooker or if I should vacuum seal it? And if I should have something in the bottom or the sides of the pressure cooker except the part that comes with it when you buy it?
Thanks guys, I appreciate your help. This is the first time I am doing this so try to learn.

Also, in this video, the guy uses gypsum and coffee in the water with his rye grains. Is it needed? Does it make a big difference?

You can benefit marginally from both but neither are really necissary. Gypsum is mainly to prevent clumping in grains, but a good grain prep is far more important and will leave you with jars that are easy to shake. You'll be fine leaving both or either out. Good call on the Presto btw.

Thanks bro. Do you have any opinion about the bags and that process?

Don't seal your bags before you pressure cook. There's a good chance they could end up popping.

Oh ok thanks mate. So then after I have pressure cooked them then I will vacuum seal them? How long after that is done should I wait before injecting the spores?
