Hi all,
I found this growing on my lawn.
Its end of summer here & we have had a lot of rainfall in last few weeks (Melb, Aus).
Cap size is around an inch in diameter. Height about 2.5 inches.
Note the upturned edge showing gills & bulb in center.
From my limited knowledge it resembles gold top, but I am a noob at this so help would be much appreciated.
I havent pulled it out yet, hoping it will get larger.

It is not a gold top, familiarize yourself with the environment that psilocybe cubensis grow in. You have an inactive species growing on your lawn.
You need to be looking in pastures with cow/horse dung, both panaeolus cyanescens and psilocybe cubensis fruit directly from manure.

Thanks for that, I was hoping perhaps spores from some bush variety found their way over, we do have some bushy hills nearby. I'll cut it & test for blueness just in case.

Only the 3rd pic is significantly blurry, rest should be enough for id. But if what the previous poster said is true, this would be moot point? Your post did give me some hope though...

Psathyrella is the closest I can see, but I'm having difficulty seeing the pictures clearly, could be my eyes, they're not cooperating with me right now.

Thanks for the input everyone!
So, if I was to get some horse manure & use it in the garden, I would have a chance of something active popping up?

Spawn some grain or brf cakes to it and you most definitely will if the weather permits
Here's a couple useful links in case you dive into that rabbit hole, outdoor tek below is for panaelous cyanescens can be applied to psilocybe cubensis https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/11585613/fpart/1 https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26424109/fpart/1/vc/1

I just realized your in Melbourne, Psilocybe subaeruginosa season is coming up, start familiarizing yourself with the species or if you really want to cultivate I would by pass the manure and go to the pf tek or a bulk grow, lots of knowledgeable people in the cultivation forum.
