This may be a stupid question, but do you think I can use the good side of this agar (the part furthest way from the contamination spot/s?). My gut tells me no, but I've read that sometimes people will cut out a couple pieces of the good mycelium to drop in grain culture jars before the contamination ruins the rest of the good mycelium. Like I said before, this is probably a stupid question, but I thought I'd ask. There is the obvious contamination on the farthest end (dark colored), and a few dark yellow sweat looking contamination in the middle (a bit harder to see in the photograph). Be easy on me, this is just a question, and my gut says no, but I had to ask! Thank you everyone.

Yes I dont see a picture indeed, but usually when there are contams on your plate its best to transfer a part of the mycelium that looks healthy and furthest away from the contams to a new plate and see if you get a plate without contamination before you expand to grain. Its possible you need to take multiple transfers to get a contam free plate. Good luck!

Darn. I'll see if I can load these images up now. I was wondering about that stuff, because normally I'd probably throw the plate out, but I hate to waste anyting at this stage of the game. I'm trying to build back up after a hiatus..... Looks like I can't share a JPEG... I'll have to figure something out for you all. I REALLY appreciate the fast response. I'm glad I came back here. This forum is great.

Try #3!!! Thanks everyone!!! You rock!!!,........I tried four ways of posting a photo. I guess I'll have to try again. Seemed way easier back in 2014 to post photos.

If you think you can isolate a clean piece and move it to a fresh dish, why not. But I would advise against taking anything from a Contaminated dish and going to grains.
