This is a pretty cool book my uncle has a copy of (as well as a collection of the Whole Earth Review magazine):

I have the millenium edition:

Covers a really wide range of topics, broadly relating to stuff like the "back to the land" and "drop out" related countercultural movements. Tools, techniques and resources.

I cant read novels, I can barley focus on long message board posts, I tried to get ADHD meds from my doctor, she gave me some test and said I only have half the symptoms and she wouldnt give me drugs for it
I might be able to follow a book I seen the movies of, like lord of the rings or harry potter, I actually read LOTR in like 2001 or 2002 after the first movie came out, I was like 12 or 13, a lot of it went over my head
when I read, I zone out, ill read like 3 pages before I realized I zoned out and didnt take any information in and have to go back and try to figure out where I last remember and re-read it

Sounds like you just need to read more
Whenever I slack on reading for a month or two, I start spacing like you described. But a couple books later, I’m 100% focused. It’s almost like a muscle that needs constant maintenance to be competitive.
If you like Harry Potter and LOTR, I have a shitload of fantasy recommendations. But, above all, you’ll love these 2:
1. Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber series (the most unique fantasy universe in the genre)
2. ASOIAF!!! Dat shit crack!! If you liked GoT at all, the books are 100x better. Plus, most of the storylines are different than in the show.

Yeah I have the same problem. It was not always that way for me though, used to read lots of novels. But between weed and electronic devices, it's like my mind has rewired so that it's very hard for me to muster the patience to finish anything longer than a typical newspaper article. And if I try to power through, I'll find myself going through the motions of scanning the words with my eyes but not actually having processed or understood the last few paragraphs. Started when I was first combining weed and reading, but now it happens even if I haven't been smoking.
