Official Elon Musk thread

I don't remember anyone in recent history having done so much in such a short period of time.
I'm a shameless fanboy and I don't Gives no fucks what y'all think. I'm rooting for the man.
I think one of the cool things no one talks about is "the boring company" and how he plans to solve inefficient traveling.
Dude has a real vision.

What do you all think? Will he be able to accomplish his goals?

I think he is great but that this thread will devolve into a debate. I also think you knew that when making the thread
-------------------- Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.

He's aight. I kind of wish he'd put more time and money into new forms of propulsion instead of just using traditional rockets but rockets are cool I guess. It just seems to counter act everything else he's doing. Electric cars and solor roofs which help lower co2 emmisions and then blasting massive amounts of co2 into the air every launch lol. But he's pretty chill. I know people don't like nuclear stuff but nuclear (fission or possibly even fusion) rockets would be dope. Or like a fucking hyper loop that just launches cargo and shit into space lol.

The propulsion he developed to be compatible with fuel (methane) that can be extracted on mars. It makes perfect sense if you want to be able to return from mars and mars is the goal with spacex

Yeah i just think traditional petrol type rockets are boring lol. Give me some crazy next generation shit. Like theres this company called positron dynamics working on antimattar catalysed fusion rockets. That shit sounds dope. And it would be incredibly fast and incredibly fuel efficient. Much lower weights of fuel you have to carry which is nice. And no co2 emmisions. And I mean who hears anti matter catalyzed fusion rockets and isn't like YES.

Petrol rockets?
You need to make a few google searches.

It's methane and liquid oxygen. Methane is a petroleum product. I didn't mean it was unrefined gasoline lol.

K, well I don't know nothing about no rockets, but he feels like a super villain in the making. I don't like him as a person, I hear Tesla and SpaceX have terrible work cultures in particular, but I'm still glad he's out there doing what he's doing. We need companies out there pushing boundaries and setting out to truly innovate and accomplish a grand vision on a large scale for the future. Better than another company that lets progress stagnate because they personally benefit from archaic tech, or because it's more palatable to the shareholders.
But as a person, he's a twat.

The thing that pushed me past neutrality was the way he behaved during the Thai Cave Rescue towards some of the first responders, particularly the dude he falsely accused of pedophilia for being a white guy living in Thailand in response to his submarine solution being called impractical by the actual cave rescue/diving experts.
He's struck me as someone who's clearly used to the circle jerk and can't handle criticism. I'm guessing he's probably constantly surrounded by yes-men. But that's just speculation on my part. That's my biggest beef with him. I would still totally buy a tesla if I could afford to drop 35k+ on a car

I don't defend him at all as a person because I'm sure he's a total dick. But at the end of the day I think thats really what it takes to get shit done.

True, the hyperloop is a big center of focus, but reading through the boring company's website there's a lot more hes doing with tunnel drilling tech that is not really talked about as much. There's tunnels that will be for tesla cars where the automated driving will zoom cars at top speed and entry and exit points that don't require traffic to slow down. Make a 2 hrs trip take a half hr.

Yeah unfortunately ass holes are pretty good at that. I feel like there's some people who can get stuff done and not be an ass hole though. Although i cant think of one right now lol. I don't really pay attention to ceos and company owners and different things like that though so idk. Maybe it's just the culture that has been cultivated from people in power. Not really that it needs to be that way for any real reason. Idk.

Oh and to answer your original question I do think he'll probably accomplish all his goals. Just maybe not as fast as he'd like to lol.

Tesla and SpaceX have done a great job of the rocking the boat. That's a great thing. I know people who have or do work at both places, they are garbage places to be employed. Super long hours, you are expected to work at least 60 hours a week, and it's cut throat as all get out. An ex-girlfriend of mine works on the Mars project. She is super passionate about the work, but she has zero life.
