I know.... there's info about this topic on the site but i'm looking for the current up to date opinion. Is there a known increase in contam with the .5 micron filters when used for spawn that is to go with a bulk sub? I just got my first set of .5 and wondering if i should go back to .2

I’ve used both with success, but I’d def recommend using 0.2 for grain spawn, especially In the winter time when dry air can cause issues with stalling on the top layer of grain. My good homie uses 0.5 with no major issues, me and him lose about the same number of bags, and I have ~95% success rate, but he seems to get more dry un colonized grains on top than me if he doesnt shake at the right time. I only shake bags after inoculation if I want them to finish together or if Im skeptical of their cleanliness, but he always shakes again around 40-50%. His bags do fonish a couple days wuicker than mine tho.
Where 0.5 bags really shine is for shiitake blocks, but thats a whole different story.

ahh, so maybe more of a moisture thing than a contam thing. i see, that totally makes sense. thanks for the feedback and also for the several dozen people that came here knowing there wasnt any responses and dropped zero knowledge, but thats this site in a nutshell.

You're lucky you got ayeplus to reply. The majority of lurkers may not be that experienced in using bags to be able to answer.
Here are a .2 and .5 (see filter) side by side colonizing well. Everything aye said is true.
Using .2s here now.
