Casing layer or no casing layer? (For GT Cubensis)

Should i use a casing layer or not? Im growing Golden Teachers and ive heard with Goldens or any Cubensis that you do not have to add a casing layer on top of substrate once it turns white. Is this true? Or should i let my tub turn white and then put a casing layer on before fruiting stage or am i good to begin fruiting stage without a casing layer, once it turns white of course? Which is better idea? Does it matter when it comes to the yield or anything? Does a casing layer matter at all? I mean if it makes the yield bigger or something then ill do it, but if a casing layer doesnt make any difference then why bother. Basically what is a casing layer good for? Incase it makes a difference my substrate is coco coir, vermiculite, and gypsum. Casing layer would be the same i assume? If i end up using a casing layer at all.

It's true you don't need a casing layer. All it does is provide moisture and creates a good little climate for the pins to develop but if your conditions are good then no need I guess.
I do use a 1/4 - 1/2 inch coir casing on top of smaller tubs/shoeboxes as they dry out easily and the casing layer helps stop this along with a fair Misting every 2-3 days.

I would just stick to 1/3 inch layer of coir on top.
Leave the casing for PE.
