Light brightness question

Hi all. First time grower and first post so, total amature... Ive read many conflicting opinions on light, but they all seem to agree that some light is necessary. “Mushrooms are not photosynthetic but the ARE photoreactive”. Light tells them when to pin and what direction to grow, but they don’t need it to make food. I’m all good there. So, I bought a couple LED bulbs, 9w, standard light bulbs, in blue. They burn cool, since LEDs don’t generate much heat, but they’re wicked bright. Will the brightness be a problem as long as there is little/no heat?
Thanks Oldnewb

Brightness not a problem. 6300K is the spectrum you want.
Consensus now is that light does not trigger pinning, surface conditions are the trigger for pinning.

Try not to go brighter than the sun.

No such thing as too much light. Bright white/daylight bulbs are the best. 6500k is ideal but 5000k will work.

Is any 6500k CFL lightbulb in a lamp good enough for a single monotub?

Don't do what I did. happened to have a grow light lying around so I set it up right above my mono without thinking much about it. Sub was super dry all the time and I couldn't figure out why, I was misting heavily so the combination of dryness and overhydration yielded short stubby shrooms

APE - first time grower - log and questions [Re: Shroomwomb]

Ok... pf tek jars sooo close its killing me to wait. I have 6 jars that are completely filled with mycelium and I’m counting the days in the suggested week to let it take hold... Not and easy task! Note: as I said in my original post, first time grower... pictures to come soon...
I saw another post that recommended posting all questions on a grow to a single thread for continuity and flow... so hope I’m doing this right.
My next question to the community is about temp and humidity.
I started this quest after reading the “Ultimate Guide” https://thethirdwave.co/psychedelics/shrooms/grow-psilocybin-mushrooms/#pj1
Since starting the process, and waiting for jars to populate, I’ve read much more and decided to try and automate as much as possible. I now have an Inkbird temp and humidity controller with a heat mat and reptile fogger. I think I’m going to really get into this... I’m obsessed.
So, what temp and %RH should I set the Inkbird to? With the fogger, I am thinking I will not place cakes on soaked perlite, but will hydrate them before placing them on foil squares in the chamber. Right?
I have tested the sensor with the fogger, and found that setting the sensor to turn on at 75%RH causes the chamber to level out at about 83%... is this ideal for APE?
My room is very close to 70 degrees naturally, + or - 3 degrees but the heat mat should stabilize that even more. I’ve set the temp to 70.
And, yes, I’ve read quite a bit about APE being better suited to mono tub bulk grows... I plan to try and collect some spores from the best specimens in this first grow, to try and get a mono tub going...
That’s my opinion, I welcome yours!

You need bright light to get a good even pinset. One bulb is plenty for one tub.
