2020 South Australia Actives/Inactives
    #26505904 - 02/27/20 05:41 AM (3 years, 10 months ago)

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and new year! I know its still early on in the year and we shouldn't be expecting subs for a good 6 weeks or so, but the cooler temps have already got inactives popping up, so why not get the ball rolling?

Went for a walk in the southeastern lofty ranges during the week and came across some puffballs, a death cap and an unidentified  mushie (potential a small dried out galerina?) The potential galerina was in known spot the subs like aswell!

Put sub mycelium in my woodchipped/mulched back yard during the middle of last season, have been giving it some tlc over the last few months soaking these areas to promote growth in conditions out of their natural range (Im at 25m asl). Glad to say it is spreading nicely underneath the top layer of bark! heres a picture from tonight showing Hypholoma (unsure of exact species) popping up in abundance in an area in my backyard which is also showing nice sub mycelium development

*Sorry if this post is too long* I have a few questions for the seasoned sub hunters out there

1. Can sub spores travel in watercourses and deposit downstream and start new growth?

2. Has anyone known of subs to grow on the lower southern hills (O'Halloran, Sheidow park)? environment in between these hills look ripe for subs to grow...

thanks legends!
