Hard time maintaining favorable temp's
    #26505324 - 02/26/20 06:10 PM (3 years, 10 months ago)

3 diff cubes growing so slowly.

Night temp's around 58-60
Day temp's indoor 60-68

All I have access to is tubs and heating water to put in bottles inside a tub with the things colonizing.

But how hot do I get the water to maintain 70-75f inside the tote, considering that heat will disperse out and the water will have to be replaced.

Was thinking I should put 130f water in bottles put em inside and put lid on crudely and blanket the tote.

Thoughts on thermodynamics? I don't know the maths.

Is there no hope of get a very cheap small space heater?

My room fluctuates somewhere between 65 and 75.

Placing them high in the room will also slightly increase tempature.

Space heater ftw

I use an infrared one that has a built in thermostat so it maintains the temps well

If I was you I'd just wait it out with those temps until I had $20 to spare on a space heater. I've grown in those temps before, annoying but not the end of the world.

Hope you find a solution.

I got the 20$ not the location to buy. I mean I could run an electric heater but that's expensive

I used a space heater more for
My own comfort than that of the mycelium. Then I switched to an aquarium heater placed inside a one gallon jug filled with water as a heat source inside a large opaque tote box.  Now that it is not as cold I use a 60 watt CF bulb inside the tote and the temps are around 78 degrees for colonization .
Just make sure the bulb is not shining directly into your trays it can dry them out. These are shoeboxes I use .

I recommend a small electric radiator.

At the very least, put your jars in a box with a blanket over it. Mycelium generates their own heat, no need for a powered incubator.

I'm getting a controlled temp mat. It'll maintain 73f which is the solution to my problems.

aquarium heaters have built in thermostats so the water stays at a constant temp
