It’s been a month and my plants are barely an inch tall. When do these things start growing?

They grow slow at first, then before you know it, they bolt up like a rocket!

Does anyone here have knowledge at making the tincture? do you dry the pods or use them fresh for tincture? dosage will just be a shot in the dark i guess first few tries

I've noticed varying degrees of frost hardiness in my seedlings. We had a few snow storms over the last week, with just enough sticking around to bury the seedlings for a day or so. The Turkish and Galania cultivars seem to have barely noticed while all my Giganteums seem to be dead
They were all pre "cabbage" stage too, so I was hoping they'd make it. Ah well, will reseed and see how it goes I guess.

Stressing about poppy plants? Starting indoors? They're a weed! I threw some seeds in my garden a few years back and they are everywhere now, have to pull them out. If you deadhead them they will last a lot longer into the summer (and have fewer offspring). Just checked my garden, most seedlings are tiny - the biggest has 1/2 inch leaves. Zone 5b-6a but this spring has been brutal. Also, treating seeds with boiling hot water is a standard way to start seeds. If they germinate after being doused with hot water it has nothing to do with the plants liking hot summer weather.

That doesn't work so well when you're growing multiple cultivars and want to keep pure open pollinated seed of each variety. They have to be stagger planted. Also, some people seem to think that they can get away with self pollinating a single plant and bagging the head to save seed - no. inbreeding has a drastic effect on poppy plants.

Damn these guys barely grew for a month and they’ve tripled in size in three days.
Am I gonna be able to transplant these or are they already too tangled up?
