Okay new to the whole process, working on fruiting all though a few new spots of a blue green color are currently present. How do I determine contamination and is this managible or do I need to scrap the project

Could be bruising, did you handle the cake? I think they also bruise if they're too wet, or too much FAE, I forgot which one... Can you take a brighter picture?

The cake did take a tumble when moving it to another room for better heat hence why there is pieces on the bottom, I'll attempt to post a better picture soon

Is it managible if it is contaminated since it is in the fruiting stage?

I definitely wouldn't throw it out until you get confirmation that it's contaminated.

I've read peroxide in the localized area could mitigate the growth since it's a molecule different it from h20 that it would not affect the mycillia greatly would you know if this is accurate ?

Well if you do have contamination chances are it is a mold, which is also mycelium, so if it's going to affect one it will also affect the other. Additionally, a single atom difference makes a large difference macroscopically. H202 will kill you if you drink a mouthful. carbon dioxide travels throughout your bloodstream constantly but carbon monoxide will bind to your hemoglobin with a much higher affinity than oxygen, preventing oxygen from being delivered to yo bod. That being said I have heard of people using H2O2 on contamination.

with contaminated cakes, aren't they not safe to eat? I've considered growing out contams before for spore use only, but haven't since I don't feel it's worth the hassle. is that a good idea?

I'm just gonna go on ahead of everyone else here and give you an affirmative It Is Not Contaminated....
Don't throw it out. Don't isolate it. Please don't spray it with hydrogen peroxide. That is just bruising mycelium and your cake looks great. Nice solid pins, keep up the good work.

It’s pinning so it doesn’t really matter if there’s contamination present, but there’s a theory that mycelium doesn’t bruise unless it’s contaminated.
That said keep doing what your doing, you got it to pin so your obv doing something right. And also, as sock said, do NOT spray it with peroxide. Doesn’t do anything truly beneficial.

Wait till the veil tears, but theoretically you could harvest now with the same potency as when the veil tears. Idk how credible that theory is but the reason most people harvest before the veil tears is for potency. I’d say let all the veils tear, and if it doesn’t happen at the same time just decapitate the more mature fruits
