A drop on agar (Update: Tubs at day 5) 1

So this is one drop from a very dark, nice looking syringe that has been on this agar for 19 days. Any opinions on if this is growing and looks ok?

Not what you want. Put this plate aside, watch what it does, but start again. I like to drop spores on 10 plates at a time to hedge failure.

I should have just put a couple more single drops in other places on the dish. My thoughts were try again also and that it wasn't looking right but I figured I ask. It only has the diameter of a drop of water.

That picture you have does not look like cubensis mycelium at all.
Hard to tell from the picture what is the size of that circle but even from a small size you should see some mycelium strands reaching outwards (does not even have to be rhizomorphic) which is not happening in yours.

So after letting that dish in my last post grow a little more I took a cutting from it anyhow and transferred it to rye berries. This is how it looks after two weeks in the jar. It was a finger nail sized cutting. Safe to say it's definitely not mold and is healthy looking mycelium.

Well here we are finally after about a month. Aside from a couple grains on top to colonize I'd say we've reached 100%. It looks perfectly normal to me. Tomorrow it will be used for G2G transfers if it passes the shake and smell test in front of the flowhood.

66qt monos ftw! I like a nice 4-5" layer. I'll use 9 jars at the 600ml mark which is about 5.8 actual quarts mixed with 12 actual quarts of coir/verm. This ratio has fixed my previous problem of low yield and I'm getting about 10-12 dry zips now. But that's with Texas variety. These ones are Ban Nathan which I've never worked with before.

If you see the thread start it was a drop on agar that didn't grow. So I just added more single drops to the same dish. They grew tomentose looking mycelium which I then just tossed right in grain without even transfering once. LoL I like to live on the edge

I’ve got some tx Pe6 on grain now. That’s what I’ve seen you say you work with right? Does it retain any of that PE potency on average?

The Tx/PE6 genetic story is odd as the genetics I'm seeing everyone get appears to be destabilizing and becoming Texas dominant. It used to be more PE dominant and was very potent yes but it seems like it falling. I recently acquired some new pe6 spores from a very old vendor and they'll be put into tubs this week. But if it's the same as what I've been seeing my time working with the variety will come to an end. I'm working with AA+, Lizard King, Ban Nathan and PE now so I'll probably never look back.

I got the LK spores from an old vendor is the biz too. His pics had them with that whiter color they're supposed to have so I'm excited to see. I plan on making a bunch of prints/swabs and clones from all my new variety MS work and I'll definitely be giving away and trading.

The jars finished up nicely. Maybe a little too grown cause I was lazy blowing K for a few days but hey wtf ya gonna do right? LoL
So got 18 jars at the 600ml line, 24qts of sterilized coir&verm, and 2 64qt tubs. 2" holes gonna cover them with one layer of 3" Micropore tape. Also of course a bucket with a lid to shake and mix everything in.

Boom! Cooking show style they're instantly mixed! I dont use top layers never had them make one bit of difference in the end dry weight total. Hope my Ban Nathons turn out good. At least enough for a clone and prints. Never had an Asian cube so I'm excited.

Stay tuned for updates same time, same channel

I did and they're in tubs but they're showing spots of green coming up here and there. That's what I get though for going MS agar plate straight to grain without transfering first. But all they gotta do is show me one fruit to clone to see if it's the way it's supposed to be. If not I'm done with that variety. My AA+ turned out awesome and I fell in love with the yield and potency so probably gonna be my new main squeeze and custys will just have to get used to seeing those beautiful white zombies lol

Hehe. I had a xfer plate ready but the wedge was bluing in a funny way so I decided to take a germ plate and make my LI. The jars look pretty good considering several bad factors involved but the real test will be in the open air. If I get anything I’ll put up a pic. My wedge jars are going super slow so I’m not too sure what’s up. Too many new variables going on.

Aaaaand they're nothing but green trich. From this and the new PE6 doing the exact same thing I've concluded there is absolutely no way to tell difference between green trich mycelium and cube mycelium. It looks the same, smells the same, grows the same, until you try to fruit it. The plates
these two different varieties grew on look identical and those plates look identical to all my other plates that do work perfectly. And they all look identical to all my different clone plates that work perfectly too. There is absolutely no way to tell if green trich is in your plate
whether it's tomentose or rhizomorph mycelium. Just seems like you definitely have to get a few plates away from the spore plate and hope for the best zero strategy zero anything you can do.
The AA+ and lizard king were done the exact same way as this, the plates look identical, everything smelled identical, everything grew identical, But they fruited perfectly and didn't contam till after multiple flushes and dying. I only ever get contams when I try something new and never else

Yeah buddy Trich is a parasitic mold and will hide in the Mycelium.
It's a real bitch to get it out of a culture. I have read about hot pouring over a fully colonized plate. I have never done it though.

LoL plate work doesn't count
I think my problem is I just don't do enough transfers before a2g It's just everything I get is always so thin and wispy. So light and thin I can barely see it on the plate. Even from clone center stem flesh. Dishes grow sooo slow 2 weeks just to grow an inch. One dish of PE has rhizos the rest it's all the other shit.

Lower your nutrient mix in your dishes. Then when. You are like 4-6 transfers in let it grow out and pour agar over the dish at about 165-170 degrees. The mycelium should grow through the agar and the heat will kill the parasitic mold that is intertwined. At least that is how it was explained to me. I have never done it.

I'm using that just add water pda. If I reduce the ratio anymore it will be soup. It's already so soft it's almost wet. I need to start making my own agar it looks like instead of this just add water stuff. Gonna follow pasty's recipe and use some color.
That warm pour tek thing on it sounds cool I'm curious if that works

I've heard of the hot pour or sandwich method for getting myc away from smothering bacteria, something about bacteria not being able to grow up through that second layer but myc grows in the 3D.
Have you read about it specifically with trich Sock?
Sorry to hear about the tubs Rum. That always sucks bad, especially trying to get a new variety started.
