Old liquid culture problems
    #2650314 - 05/07/04 04:31 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

I've got some liquid culture thats been storing in the fridge for about 11 months. I broke it out a few weeks ago to check it out. Innoculated 14 quarts, which grew out fine. Went ahead and cased these, but they seem to not want to fruit.
I'm about 99% sure its not the rh/temp/CO2.

Would storing a culture this long have an impact on its ability to fruit?

Thanks for any help

ps..I know this is a long time to store a culture in the fridge and expect anything.

Normal mycelia can experience overlay, but I tend to think that since it grew out through the substrate it should still fruit.

Same.

Inoculated with a P.C Amazonian liquid culture that were over 1 year old and it colonised the whole jar in about 3 weeks.

Cased it about 7 days a go and so far no fruiting.

This has been done along side some P.C Mexicana and that's now pinning. It's too soon to say if the P.C Amazonians are going to fruit or not but the lack of mycelium growth after the dunk n roll might hint to a failure here.

Did you have any luck with getting them to fruit?
