So don’t ask me why I didn’t start with something simple.. but I decided to start with a CRS LC and a pre made grain bag.. did my innoc on the 13th, using a seed mat, separated, not directly placed on. Need to keep a healthy temp. This setup is in a 66 qt tub also to help keep temp. Not showing any signs of growth yet, have some condensation but not too much.. my question is 1) does that specific strain take longer than others. 2) is being in the tub limiting a health gas exchange.. patients is key with this and I am being patient.. also away a lot of people don’t use mats, but seems necessary for me at the time..

Gives us pics of the grain bags. Sounds like a gas exchange issue which is common with bags. Don’t ever use premade spawn, I’d sudgest preping some WBS jars next time. Heating pads are a no no. Hard to say what you problem is without pics.

I’d gladly try other methods but this seemed like the most discrete method at the time to get some experience... pix coming

Keep em as an experiment if you’d like but I would recommend starting some jars instead of waiting for those bags

Order a spore string or liquid culture if you can find a vendor. Buy a bag of bird seed, a pressure cooker, and some jars. If you pinch pennies you could get everything you need for under 50$. The learning experience is the most important part if you want to get serious about cultivating.

Pennington classic wild bird seed 50lb bag is 10$ at Walmart rinse the dirt off, get the floaters out, soak overnight and dry with strainers and place on towel. Poke holes in the lids of the jars with a screw driver and stuff them with polyester filling from a pillow. Cover lids with foil and PC for 90mins at 15psi. inoculate after they have cooled. Spawn the seed to coir, or coir+pasturized Hpoo/verm/gypsum if you want to be fancy about it. You can use plastic shoeboxes or monotubs if you have a lot of spawn. I'd reccomend keeping you spawn to substrate ratio 1:1 since it is your first rodeo. Good luck

He is using lc, and if your spores take that long you are far from optimal conditions

They look terrible. The grains are all crappy looking and over cooked. Might be the mat. Oh and get rid of the heating mat.

Not cold storage but was trying to keep an optimal temp... trying to keep as close to 76F I can get.. that’s what I’ve read is optimal.... haven’t handled the bag much.. I lift straight out to give it a look over every few days.. as for overcooked that’s what it all looked like when I received it.. think I’m just goin to try jars from here on out...

You don't need to keep them that warm. ~70 degrees is fine. My temps fluctuate from 65-70 and I've never had an issue. If you can wear a t-shirt comfortably, you're good to go!
