I started this brf over 10 weeks ago, and it has been very slow growing! I never saw mushrooms shaped like this. Is it typical of Chitwan? Thanks!

I thought it was growing a blob under it at first, or maybe a mutant cap. Yeah, I'll do my amateur best at making an agar culture of it, and/or a spore print! This was from a ms syringe, so maybe I'll have more than one shot at it?

Very likely a result of bacterial spawn causing mutations. Cool lookinng though, for sure. She thicc.

So, bacterial mutation would not be replicable?

Also since it's highly unlikely it has anything to do with genetics, you won't be able to replicate via cloning. I spawn bacterial jars from time to time in my conservatory (away from my main grow area) just to see what comes out. I love a tub of funky looking mutants just for shits and giggles. The only distinguishing feature of Chitwan btw really is- often- a pronounced/sharp umbo. Some of mine did anyway. Some didn't.

It must be bacterial. Here it is just now--the gills are uncovered, but the stipes seem to continue expansion. I was going to try to make a spore print, but I'd like to see where this goes.
Also odd--if I put drops of water on top of the cake, they soak through almost immediately, and it usually takes 8 hours...

Yeah the mycelium is using up all of the water to produce those shrooms. You can always set it on a tray and bottom water it. I dont see why alaska thinks it is bacterial mutation due to bacteria... When I get one of those runny nose things Rhinovirus, my nose stays the same way it has always been.
Visually there is nothing that I see in the pictures that says contamination.

I snipped off one tiny cap that had opened, and will see if I can extract any kind of spore print. Also, will do my best to clone tissue from one of the 'big butts'--lol. This was from a ms syringe, and I have at least 2 more of the same coming along. I'll keep you posted. Thanks!

Whoa!
Looks like a nuclear explosion in fungi form. Are u ready to nuke yer mind?
Im pretty sure Chitwan is a mutant strain so yeah, more chances of seeing odd stuff like this (but its cool looking right?!)

Yeah, it's weird for sure! I'm hoping whatever culture(s) from this will pass the weirdness along. First spore print looks like it bombed. Next stop:tissue==>agar.
