Any advantage to using in vitro pin from agar to start new plates?

I’ve had a few Golden Teacher agar plates have in vitro pins. I’ve used a couple to start new plates. Made several transfers. Got some nice looking plates going.
Is there and difference between using these pins compared to just making a mycelium transfer?
On a side note, I tend to let my plates grow fully out.

The advantage is that those agar pins are actually sterile clones. Also, you’re likely cloning a vigorous culture that pins well.

Pins are great as long as they're not to big. They might rot. And don't let the myc touch the edge of the plate. That's where contaminants lurk.
