Something different for those of you who have access to pinecones and not the standard old woodchip that everyone else here uses/just want to try something different.
Been having some great luck doing P.subaeruginascens on pinecones so thought Id share with you all cause Im sure it would work with all woodloving psilocybes.
First off -head off to your closest forest / pine trees and go collect a bunch of pinecones.I pick up whats available-usually a mix of older and newer fallen cones.A few needles aswell...
Next I fill a plastic bin with collected pinecones add rain water and place something large ontop to keep it all underwater. In my case Ive used a large stone.
Leave for 2 weeks plus. Once times up and you ready-I drain cones from water thru a old crate -Its gonna have a slighty stinky fermented smell -this is good.
What I do next is what I think really makes this work. 4#hammer
And go to town on each cone with a few hard hits. Watch your fingers-but normally after a few strikes the cones structure/fibres are smashed/fluffed up.
Its a lot of work...But...Your mycelium is gonna love you for it!! Next take whatever tote/tub and fill with alternating layers of your smashed cones/needles and your colonised grain spawn.

 Leave in a shady spot.
Mine are totally colonized in under two weeks.

Once colonized these could I spose be put to larger beds of cones/needles but cause Im a little late-Im going to keep them in tubs and see how it goes.Wish that had these done earlier in the Summer as we are now starting to go into Autumn but I have high hopes....maybe Ill be suprised this season with some fruits...If not well then hopefully next season. Ill keep you all updated as soon as fruits appear(fingers crossed)soon.

Interesting. Have several dishes of ps cyan and a coupole experimental jars with my overgrown T1 dishes going right now. Maybe I'll try a small tub of fermented spruce cones alongside my birch and poplar tubs since I have pounds of them from cutting down beatle kill this year. Can't wait to see what turns out for you! Who'd have thought?

I know this thread is actually deceased, but can anyone explain this idea? Why 'ferment' for two weeks versus just macerating and getting them to absorb the water?
Would there be a benefit to boiling it to reduce any other microorganisms/contamination?

K?
Just threw a post up to "save" this thread in my post history because I found it interesting.
Never understand it when someone jubilously points out that a thread is old like I can't read dates and like the information in it has expired. It's age pretty much doesn't mean shit.
