Tyvek Lids Failing

Hello all,
I've recently made the switch from metal lids and rings to plastic one piece lids for my grain jars.

I've noticed that my contamination ratio has drastically increased since using these plastic lids and I have finally seemed to have found the problem. (The contamination is the grey cloudy spots/grains beneath each GE hole.)

I've noticed that every contamination is starting directly beneath the GE holes in my lids.. I have a Tyvek filter (one envelope side thick) between the holes and the grain but it's now obvious that things are getting through regardless. I believe that I may have cut the filters to small in diameter and they are not making a solid seal between the open air and the grains inside the jar.. Note the visible gap between the Tyvek a plastic at 6 o'clock in this picture.

So my question.. Is this a poor way to make lids? Should I just cut the diameter of the disc a little larger to hang over the rim like a coffee filter? Should I try a completely different approach without tyvek, maybe polyfil instead?
I bought 32 of these lids and have already drilled four GE holes in each one. I would like to salvage the plastics lids since in sick of rust of the metal rings and lids.

The Tyvek needs to be isolated from the grain, that's why with the 2 piece lids it's on top of the metal disk, and then the ring is screwed down over it.
You're getting contams b/c the tyvek is getting wet, and once it's wet contams can get through it.
I say go SFD, or put micropore tape on the top of the lid covering your holes.

Nope it's the lid aswell. I had a lot of issues with those lids. I still run them on about 12 jars, but they are the last ones I use.
I have noticed that they will contam on the inside of the lid around the screw rings. After a couple of months I will get a little non mycelium growth start there. I don't know if it is from taking them out of the PC to cool or what. Now when I use them I let them sit in the PC over night to even temperature and pressure.

Two layers cut slightly bigger than the jar lid like you described and screwed in to the threads should work better. It’s basically how I’ve been doing it for years but with the tyvek painters suits and the two piece lids. The painters suits are fairly thin though, I don’t know the thickness of your envelopes.
I don’t think it would matter that much being on the inside of the lid, the bit over the ge hole is still exposed to the moisture inside the jar when it’s on the outside anyway

Honestly I feel like OP ruined the lids
I just use em per pastys tek.
You'll probably have to do sfds rtv'd to each small hole.

So your getting contams over the holes but if the air was to go in the hole and out the side you wouldn't get contamination over the holes. It would be all over. I'm with Mushboy on SFD's but I still think these lids are inferior to metal lids with SFD on the outside. RTV over the holes.

you could also cover with holes with a small square of tyvek and use mp to hold it on.
like this.
