How are PE syringes made

The syringe I got had a massive ball of spores, how would you do that from a variety that won’t print?
I’ve been trying to figure it out but there’s either a way to print that I don’t know of or they have some specialized equipment.
Has anybody made one or know how the vendors do it?

I Don't Think The Spores Were Clumped Together When They Made The Syringe.
The Spores Probably Clumped Together From Sitting Around.

Sometimes you can swab the, or harvest using a razor, most varieties are poor spore producers so lc is usually the best route

I was curious about this a while back and remembered I'd came across this, found it again. Here is a quote from Workman from Sporeworks:
Quote:
Workman said: It isn't really a secret but the basic method is to take very mature caps that are visibly producing spores. Even these rarely drop decent prints but the spores are there. These are gently dried, which tends to cause even more spores to mature before the cap completely dries out. The caps are then crushed, rehydrated in sterile water with a wetting agent and then centrifuged. Spores are very dense compared to the mushroom tissue, bacteria and other impurities, so they separate nicely into a pellet at the bottom of the vial. Remove the top layer and repeat with a few more washings and centrifuging and you have nearly pure spores when you are done. This is dried and used as needed.
It is somewhat complicated and not practical for the home experimenter but it does scale up well for the production of commercial quantities of PE spores. This method can also be used with regular cubensis caps after normal printing. There are a surprisingly large amount of spores clinging to gills. Swabbing is easier and works just as well for archiving spore samples.

That totally explains it thanks!
I figured they had to have some way of mass extracting them, wouldn’t have thought centrifuge though.
That’s pretty cool it makes spore pellets, definitely seems like what I got in my syringes. That would also explain why I had such a high success rate with syringe to grain. Crazy it even separates bacteria out.

Yep same here, back before I got into agar I shot quite a few syringes into grain jars with pretty good success. Probably some luck involved but vendor syringes have always been surprisingly clean IME. Well, probably depends on vendor as well but SW especially has always been pretty solid. (Disclaimer: for anyone out there reading this I still would always recommend going to agar first to ensure clean cultures)
As for PE specifically, it's trippy how even the few caps that happen to sporulate just refuse to drop spores for a print, finicky little shits in that regard
