Initially I thought slime mold (no), then Witch's Butter (no), so I dunno.... Dacrymyces?  Growing on decaying log, Santa Cruz Mnts, CA.

Xtra credit for beetle ID... it's not much bigger than a pinhead, and... I think its laying eggs.

I think you’re right about Dacrymyces. Maybe Dacrymyces palmatus.

Maybe Tubifera ferruginosa, aka "raspberry slime mold". Very common.

I'll be damn I'm quite certain you're right.  Which means I posted in the wrong site since slime molds are amoebae, but I think y'all will forgive me.  I'm wondering if the beetle is a described species but I digress!
