hi friends,
i've been patiently waiting for two jars to finish colonizing however have one jar with some pretty large in vitro pins:

I'm not fully convinced the jar is finished colonizing since it has been at this stage for well over a week now:

and i birthed the third cake 6 days ago and can see some pins poking through!

Should I go ahead and birth the jars? The other looks similar to the one shown however with only a few tiny in vitro pins. And this may be an obscenely noobish question to ask but is the pictured pin edible / will it produce any effects? Or is this is a huge no-no / too immature of a pin? I've read on here (from a 14-year old post) that if one were to eat the pin to do so IMMEDIATELY after breaking open the jar. Is this perfectly fine / would anyone have any estimates on the dosage for the pin shown?
When birthing the cake in the chamber (tips / concerns greatly appreciated btw) I also had some smaller pins which bruised incredibly easy when extracting from the jars so I'm certain these preemie pins will be bruised beyond repair to try and fruit in the chamber. So should I throw them all out? It seems wasteful but I want to follow everything by the book for my first flush.

That's a fat one in jar 1, birth them all and carefully roll em in verm could leave the pins on to grow. Jar 2 looks bacterial that's why it's pinning or it was just ready to pin anyway.
That single shroom probably won't produce any effect, leave it to grow then you'll have more shrooms ready at the same time

definitely mighty thicc which is why it looks so tempting. and i'm not really looking to drop down into the rabbit hole, even a microdose amount would be desirable tonight. if there's in fact bacterial growth in the jar would it still be safe to eat? and should I dehydrate it or is it safe to eat it still mushy wet?

It should be safe to eat as long as there's no contamination. Did you smell the jars? If they smell like mushrooms and nothing else then go ahead and eat it. Wet or dry, you'll get the effects. Oh and it should be as potent as any other mushroom you get from those jars. Enjoy!

hi ignorantape, thanks for the reply! the jars smelled perfect and I went ahead and made some chamomile citrus tea + probiotic juice mixture (added after) to consume the preemie pins 12 minutes ago.

they went down pretty smoothly in three fell gulps honestly i'm not expecting anything effects whatsoever but I couldn't bear to waste such beautiful pins.
the rest of the cake has been dunked and I'm going to wait just a few more days on the last jar to be totally sure of mycelial consolidation~

yep. total goof on my part, I thought they were wide mouth when I bought them in-store but came home to the surprise. i found one confident whack! with a hammer inside a large and sealed cardboard box and very careful handling / rinsing has worked fine to fix the mistake

these baby golden teachers still packed a way-more-than-noticable punch but nothing at all overbearing. it's been years since i've felt this way and this little taste has gotten me really excited for what's to come!
