Good morning legends,
Quick summary - My first grow and I have various things a different stages to make sure i have a rolling supply once successful. I had an extra master grain jar and decided to fruit it for shits and giggles. Coir was at field capacity (i think anyway) and the jar has just started to pin. I have no experience on what looks 'dry' or 'wet' as it's pretty subjective until you have seen what works.
Should I mist this? I'm scared of losing my first ever fruit!!

Also, look at this!! You will all probably be like "shut up noob", but this is the first fruit I have cultivated hahah just gutted I can't eat it.
http://
Ok, one more. This tub is the only one like it. Another experiment where i played with some really tomentose growth from an agar plate. It didn't appear to look like any contam i have seem on here and i wanted to see the difference between tomentose vs rhizo fruit. Now I am pretty sure something funky is happening here, but either way I have moved it outside and locked it up until i here from the legends.

mush love legends!

Not a legend by any means but my take on things:
1st pic: looks slightly dry. A nice little mist would do it well. You can tell when coir starts to dry out a bit as it turns a lighter brown color. You need that evaporation however to induce pinning. You see all those little white spots? That's some mycelial knots which are likely to turn into pins in the next day or so. Looks like you have some baby pins just starting around 7 o'clock. Keep doing what you're doing.
2nd pic: Actual pins starting to grow out under your casing. That's fine. They'll likely push up along the glass and up through the casing. They liked that environment and so they chose to pin there. I wouldn't worry about them, dig them out, or anything. Just let them go.
3rd pic: Hard to tell as the pic is a little blurry. I'm also not sure what to make of the gray looking blobs. The white blobs appear to be an overlay (very tomentose myc). Not sure what the gray is. If this was PE, then it would look like a first flush blob set. Is it firm and fruit-like, or more like puffy myc? Assuming it's the latter this tray may fully overlay on you, stifling fruit growth. Could be just fine though in the end. If it fully overlays prior to fruits some people have had success with raking a fork across the overlaid surface breaking it up slightly which has helped induce pinning. Or it could just stall out on you. TBD. Don't give up on it though.
Good luck and congrats on your grow!

Thanks mate! you are 100% a legend, i appreciate the input. I'd been hanging all day for someone to reply.
Light misting done.
So... your telling me that my little buddies down the side have a chance of popping up?! I thought I would lose them to the mushroom gods! If the top pins aborted i was going to dig them all out just so i could say i have tried my first batch hahaha.
You are right regarding the tub. It's puffy myc. Golden teacher. I have researched overlay, but it seems like social suicide the moment you bring it up.
Thanks again legend!

I'm watching this tub. I have one running that looks just like it and I'm curious how yours turns out.

I think the hardest thing to learn is moisture levels. It is easy to add too much and also easy to dry it out. As a cyclist I would refer to this as saddle time, the more you ride the more you know.
Make sure that jar is getting a lot of FAE.
Third tub looks F'd for sure.

Thanks all! Really appreciate it! I thought as much regarding the third tub. It’s still living outside like a loser as I just want to see what happens.
OMFG - I got Bod and mushboy on a thread. I’m Fanboying like a bitch. LEGENDS!!!

For any who are interested, here is an update of the jar. Thanks for the mist advice. They are loving it. Those side pins are breaking my heart though. My big tubs are taking off too!

Peace

That’s a better pinset than anything I’ve ever gotten from top-fruiting. Do you just keep a bag over it or is it in an FC?

Thanks mate! I think it was a fluke, but here is what i did:

Zip-lock bag and rubber band. Skewer through a hole every inch or so. on the dry side of field capacity. 12/12 6500k light. Always between 21-25C. No misting until knotting (on advice from the LEGENDS).
I can't stop checking it every 5 minutes .. it's still there.
