OPUNTIA !
    #26498630 - 02/22/20 03:11 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I am very excited to see that OPUNTIA( common prickey pear cactus) is a good to graft lophs on to.From what I read  some even preferred it because they have a tendency to keep your scion looking normal.
There is a few post here on the shroomery and a great site with pictures here

Anyone currently using them? They floated into my yard after a hurricane a few years ago. I have them growing in a few spots/ a few containers.  I would love to see pics if anyone has them.
Is there any harm in grafting onto  plants that have multiple pads?

anyone??

I've got a few slices rooting for this exact reason!

Maito used them to graft san pedro successfully:

I'm surprised they're not more common, since they seem easier to acquire than pereskiopsis in some areas (mine, for example), they're cold tolerant, induce more flowering, conserve natural shape and they apparently grow nearly or just as fast as peres. I haven't had the opportunity to compare them, but I will soon, since I have some peres rooting as well.
