Please help. Trouble fruiting

Hi Everyone,
I have been doing this on and off for the last 10+ years, but it has been almost 4 years since I last fruited, and I don't remember as much as I thought I did.
I think this cake is to wet, which is my main problem, but can you please confirm.
After opening from jars my rye seed was mixed 50/50 with vermiculite and added water. I used to use this method with WBS and was hoping it would work with the rye as well. I exposed the cakes to light after three days in darkness but they weren't as colonized as I expected them to be. They has been fanned twice a day for the last 7 days, and I still see pins. they were sprayed twice and for the first 4 days weren't completely colonized. average room temperature has been 78 degrees. They were incubating at 85. No casing, strain is blue meanie. Cakes are 8x11. They're getting 12 hours of light day. I haven't done this in a while, but back then we called it the rez effect, and it used to work well with the B+ stain I had last time around.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ps. One cake contracted cobweb, and the cake was disposed of immediately.

What makes you think bacterial? Not being defensive, I just want to know what to look for.

All those wet spots that aren't colonizing are a clear sign of bacteria.

Next time use coir, and try to level the surface.
I’d ease up on water and increase the air it gets, leaving the lid resting on top should be ok if you keep an eye on it.

Can you recommend a tek? I have a bunch more colonized rye seed jars.

Any Shoebox Tek.
Basically just mix a quart of spawn in with 1.5-2 qts of coir, level it out, add another layer of coir about 1/3 inch deep, level it, snap the top on.
Then wait til you see pins and maybe unsnap the lid so it’s resting on top for extra air.

This is an interesting one for sure. I'm curious how 50/50 verm will turn out. As above they need some Far, good luck.

I think the 50/50 thing is in reference to the username of the member who wrote up the tek - Damien5050. The ratio of coir and verm isn't supposed to be 50/50 though.

That's definitely bacteria in there. I'd chalk this one up as a learning experience and try again. Were all still learning, that's the nature of this hobby. Get some 6qt shoebox tubs, mix 1 qt of spawn to 2 qts field capacity coir, put foil on top and let it sit for 5 days. Then remove the foil and case with 50/50+ and set an upside down shoebox tub on top of it. Mist and fan 3 times daily and you'll have pins in about a week give or take a few days. It's simple and tried and true. If you wanna experiment a bit and are after bigger flushes, instead of straight coir use equal parts coir/cmc/verm. Good luck!

Turned out just fine. Definitely was too wet, but definitely wasn't contaminated. I'm always watching for signs of contamination. I have some work to do but not bad for my first flush in 4 years.
