one of my recent tubs, used some jars that might’ve been a lil bacterial

I think I added 1 quart rye, 2 quarts oats

Yeah it happens. Could be the genetics, could be you overhydrated the sub.

Only thing you can do is minimize FAE to get the stems stretching a bit. BUT be warned - this WILL also increase the chance of contam.

Haha it just makes them taller is all. +1 to bag aesthetic and +100 to ease of harvest.

Not saying OP would get higher yields.

my bad bros, I’ve had my mental occupied for the last few days,

I indeed picked them 😬

considering how small they were though, I don’t think it was too much of a travesty, they seemed to only be growing in length and not girth,

also, I waited until the largest one you can see in the picture had had his veil starting to open

it was like picking toothpicks, then I added a casing layer afterwards to try and improve the moisture content so we’ll see how that goes

Should of just picked the big one and let the rest grow, they didn’t look like aborts, sounds and looks like you kind of fucked yourself on a would-be good harvest. Who cares if they’re skinny? They would have gotten bigger by the looks of it.

i’ll keep that in mind for next time,

but I really don’t think they would’ve gotten too much bigger, some of the caps were lighter and opening up on ones that had to be less than 2” tall

in general I try to leave dark pins that I see have lots of potential ahead of them, even when I harvest the rest of the tub, but these guys just seemed microscopic

i could be wrong tho, i’ll check myself in the future

the photos don’t do justice on exactly how small they were

I see what you mean, pictures can be a little deceiving sometimes. That shit will happen to me sometimes where it looks like I have a nice pinset and they all get about two inches and start opening their caps.
