Should I trip tonight? 1

Ok so I’ve been dosing every two weeks since October last year. I’ve got the message, and I can feel my wife’s tension, so after a unusually potent trip a few weeks back, I said I’d have a 6 month break. I almost felt forced to say it; I said it on the comedown from the first trip in years where I’ve had to get my wife to come home!
But the week after this, last week, I had a small 2.5g dose. It was one last trip before I work down south for six months, in a weeks time. So that was that.
But I want to trip again tonight. My daughter is at home though and I don’t think my wife would be impressed.
Am I obsessed, firstly? Why should it feel “so hard” to have a break from tripping? When I’m working away, I know it won’t be a problem. I suppose that might be it; that I know I have the opportunity again tonight before I work away.
What would you guys do in my situation? I could wait until they both go to bed, then take the mushrooms, so that wouldn’t put anyone out. Am I feeling drawn because of the sort of enforced abstention starting next week?
Any advice appreciated. ❤️ DJ Ed

Not sure why you feel the need to trip so often especially when its causing tension in your marriage, but if it was me I'd keep my word to the wife and hold off for a while. I'm sure you want her to be able to believe you when you tell her you'll do or not doing something, trust goes a long way in relationships. You've already broke your 6 month fast with the 2.5g trip as your 'one last time'. At least wait til you're out of town. As you said, you've got the message <3
Safe travels though

Do what i did. Get your wife to start tripping. I used to do that shit where id just trip and not saying anything but i wouldnt wait for them to go to bed. We would be in the grocery store and she would be like wtf is wrong with you!? Haha no good. Like dude said trust goes a long way. We were married 8 years before my wife's first trip but it changed our relationship and brought us closer together. Id been tripping for about 10 years prior so it was nice to be able to help keep her safe during her hard trips.

You’re not addicted to mushrooms, if that’s what you’re asking. Whenever I feel like I’m just counting down days until my next trip, I eat a light (2-2.5g) dose that same day. Those are usually fun and giggly but also strangely fulfilling trips.
Just trip at night. Not like you’ll fall asleep in hyperspace

Disagree with feldman. Psychological addiction is a real thing, even for things that have no physical addictive potential (gambling is a great example)
If you have the desire to trip so often you probably are psychologically addicted to tripping (I think I am too, lol). However, I don't think that's a bad thing. Tripping is good for you. But if it's causing strain with your wife you might want to reconsider... addiction is usually classified as such when it's destructive to personal relationships.
I'm not really the person to give advice on that one though, I'm still a college freshman

If you think you're addicted to tripping take a bigger dose. It'll fix that for you.

I know psychological addiction is a real thing, dude.
But comparing mushrooms to gambling is asinine. Mushrooms don’t overload your brain with dopamine...Mushrooms don’t change the amount of available dopamine at all.
Mushrooms are not addictive. There, I said it again. Growing them is another story though

I love gambling. Avid poker player. First played roulette at age 9. Tripping is way more fun. Pyschedelics don't produce dopamine by themselves but they allow MASSIVE dopamine releases.

I'm not actually addicted to tripping in the sense that I crave it all the tine, but I do trip once every two weeks which is much more often than most people here recommend.

Well I trip every Friday, but I never get fiendish about it, like I do about weed...or, lately, Booz...or, previously, amphs...
After I get reeeaally high and drunk, the first thing I want to do in the morning is chase a beer with a bowl. After a strong trip, the LAST thing I want is another trip.

Do what is best for your wife and daughter. They may be not be right necessarily, but your family is more important.

Back in my high school days I tripped without a care. Didnt do set or setting. Would trip high doses during horrible emotional or high stress times just to see what would happen. Now im married with kids. Shit changes dude.

OP, I don't think you're addicted to tripping, might be your soul asking for more nutrition
But yea, talk to your wife, let her know how you feel, especially since you're going out of town for a 6 month work trip and want to have a proper trip before your work trip.

I’ve put my wife and family first guys. Tripping will still be there for me anytime. I’d love to get my wife tripping, and when my daughter is 18 I’m going to have a serious conversation with her too. But yeah, my set isn’t right now; I’d be spending most of the trip thinking what my wife was thinking! Never great.
Thanks people ❤️ DJ Ed

Sounds a good call to me, mate As far as obsessive or addictive behaviour goes, you're prioritising family, not being impulsive, and seeking advice when unsure of yourself - I'd say you've nothing to worry about by the sounds of it!
I took a dose of libs yesterday at lunch, after a short period of deliberation - wish I'd abstained as you did! Ended up sat by a river staring at the sky for three hours, with a gale blowing into my face - now I'm at home with a grim head-cold. Interesting trip though

It is really hard to convey to somebody else, somebody who has never taken a psychedelic, how fundamentally “good” taking mushrooms is. They could never get it. It’s almost analogous to an old joke that used to go around: some bloke gets washed up on a desert island, and on walking around finds also that some famous supermodel is also washed up on the island. So they’re castaway together for years when one morning the bloke sees another bloke washed up on the island. The first thing he says to this new bloke is; “You’ll never guess who I’ve been sleeping with!”
The sort of connection is that, is the experience any good whatsoever if there is nobody to talk to about it afterwards?
Yep, don’t fancy waking up to an empty house! Family comes first, regardless of whether or not I “can get away with it”.
I believe though although not addicted, there is a fair amount of “obsession” that comes with mushroom use..........
Thanks all for the thoughtful responses, much appreciated. DJ Ed

Glad to hear you chose what you believed to be right for you and your family!
If anything, make some capsules and take them with you in a vitamin bottle.
But the break will be good. Think how incredible your trip will be when you return.
And nothing wrong with a little healthy obsession. Some people have a healthy obsession to exercise and we generally think that’s a good thing. Some “obsessions” are good and, like exercise, if mushrooms are improving your health, mental or physical, then there’s nothing wrong with it. Plus you showed that you can make the important decision and put it down for your family so you’re golden.
