Also OP to me the most important item is a stove or another heat source. 2nd is PC. 3rd is agar. Everything else is substitutable to me. Don't have a scalpel use a knife No petris use a small pp5 container, jar, cup, shot glass whatever. No SAB or flowhood use a cardboard box with Saran wrap or plastic. No MEA plenty of substitutes. No sfds use unmodified lids or rip open a old pillow, you can even use just foil if no other alternatives. Spores are only important the first time you can grow from a slant for years. I can't think of something that I can't easily substitute. Atleast not something that's not already commonly available. If there's a will there's a way. I lived in a damn near abandoned trailer in the middle of nowhere for years. No job, no money, no power, no car stranded. Always found a alternative and grew a fucking assload of shrooms. I was a resourceful little shit. I'm glad I made my way out of that situation but I learned a lot. You don't actually need most of what you think you need.

Glad youβre doing well man. I already have a smaller sterlite SAB, PC, polfyil or Micropore, the basics. I was curious if people were going to say for example, an alcohol lamp is useful rather than a lighter.. stuff like that. I have a nice inline fan from when I grew weed, and was thinking about making a flow hood with it. Is that even worth it if Iβm not growing a ton of mushrooms? I mean Iβm buying my gear for agar literally right now, and Iβd like to get 15-20shoeboxes going and many 3-5 monos going Maximum id say. Thoughts bud?

Don't worry about a flow hood at all right now, unless you just wanna spend money for something you don't need. The consensus seems to be get good in an SAB before you think about a flow hood. Just make sure it's like 110 qt. It gets cramped in there if they are too small.
A torch seems preferred to an open flame like that. I got a small refillable one for 6$. I like having multiple scalpels to use so I can keep a flow going a little more.

To the OP, are we talking about equipment or supplies? What do you already have? What do you plan on doing?
For equipment I'd agree with a PC and SAB.

We would vacuum seal it and they would go into a huge ass autoclave. Someone told me that the vacuum pulled out air from the parts
It's called vacuum bagging and is used for manufacturing composites that cannot have any air bubbles in the finished product(among other reasons).

Mr Wizard what torch do you have? Any will do?
And Sir Pentinite, Either equipment or supplies. I want to be able to get a nice sized grow going, maby say 15 or so shoeboxes and 5 or so monos. I have 9 WBS quarts going (2 are going to be spawnable soon,) and 6 BRF. I want to do only grains now.
I have the basics.
16QT PC (Ill do multiple runs rather than buy a new one) 8QT Electric PC for agar and such
64QT Sterlite SAB (need a bigger one) Quart Jars Polyfil and Micropore tape MS Spores from vendor youd recommend Etc..
What I was thinking about getting: Agar supplies (Telephone brand agar, pasty plates materials) Scalpel Torch Shoeboxes Rye (maby other grains for experimental reasons.)
I just want to have a nice constant flow of agar, jars, and tubs. Im really excited about agar, I genuinely enjoyed growing weed and barely smoked.. gave 95% of it to my girlfriend. I enjoy this so far. Ive done a lot of reading, but trying to get a rhythm going. I read too much IMO. Counterintuitive I think.

The most important Items for Me Grow is: Cadco Hot Plate Presto and AA Pressure cooker Outdoor camping Propane burner Flowhood
This works for me, it is my heavy equipment set up. I am not saying it is needed in anyway, but over time I have added pieces to my collection that have made life easier and increased my success. You don't need any of these items to start, (save the presto) but over time they have helped me learn and grow.

I use a Cadco hotplate as an electric burner that I run outside to do my PC cycles. It's not needed I just got booted to the garage many years ago.

Propane, or butane, whichever is clever for you. This torch is butane, I didn't want something with a big tank to have to keep around in my lab.

Lol I feel that. Before I started especially I read so many different opinions and teks and was almost trying this be a perfectionist before I even started, if you know what I mean. Itβs paying off now though, confident with where Iβm at!

I have a food saver, the expensive ass one with the bag maker and suction hose for vacuum sealing zipper bags Mason jars and marinating tubs. I've used it for prints buds and food quite a bit(especially for marinating some carme asada). Had it for 3 years now. Always been scared to use it on my mushrooms though. I know mine will crush the shit outta them. I've used it to seal them but always hot seal now button before it gets a chance to vacuum out all the air.
Yeah I usually hit seal early, if the fruits are particularly big I'll separate the caps and stems and lay them both flat, that helps with the crush factor.
But, even then, I don't mid if they get crushed, they're going into tea anyway.
Fair enough I just hate crushing them. Same with buds. I hate when a nice fluffy bud is compressed down in the sealer. I also have severe OCD though so this probably explains a lot.
The secret is to put your bud in a ziploc bag and seal it with a little air in it. Then you vacuum seal the ziploc bag and the vacuum bag will pull tight around the ziploc but the air you left in the ziploc will keep the vacuum from crushing the bud.
I wouldn't do that for shrooms though, you don't want extra air in there, let em get crushed, potency>aesthetics.
