Modified PF substrate

I'm trying out adding spent coffee and gypsum to PF cakes. I'd like to know if these ratios make sense: * By volume, 2:1:1 vermiculite-water-BRF * Weight the above (in my case it was 465 g) and add 25% of that in spent coffee grounds (116 g) * 1 tablespoon of gypsum
I got the info from here, but I'm unsure if I might have misinterpreted it. When I mixed it in it looked like rather a lot of coffee. I haven't inoculated anything yet, so I can still redo them (although it's going to be a pain).

keep to the 2:1:1, toss in a bit of gypsum and use half the water as liquid coffee. the grinds are ok to it's just the texture of a pf recipe is perfect

Imho if you want to use spent coffee grounds, use it on bulk substrate or in the pre soak water of your grains.
1 Tablespoon of gypsum is way too much, in Paul Stamets GGMM he advises 0,5g of gypsum for 450g jars, 100g rye and 150ml water.
Keep in mind that the PFTEK recipe is the way it is because it works very well the way it is.

So if you are going to make "spent" coffee you can drink some while you mix the grounds and excess coffee into the BRF cake. I think for me the problem with BRF cakes is that unless you are inoculating with a LC syringe, your chances are 50/50 it will contaminate anyway, so why increase the nutrient load?

So, replace half of the water with coffee (as in the beverage)?
