Trouble with Pans Cyan or maybe the spores supplier?
    #26495961 - 02/20/20 07:45 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

So I ordered some Jamaican Pans Cyan Spores spores from a supplier and B+ spores from another. I then ordered pre-made pint jars from grow kits supplier. I then put them through new techniques for me - heat mat and hot oven inoculation instead of SAB. Nothing seemed to come through after 2 1/2 weeks. I turned off the heat mats and then got some myc in 1 Pans cyan and 1 B+. By this time I already changed my mind to start using agar and ordered that stuff, plus now I ordered both more Pans Cyan and a B+ from same supplier. I created LMEA and PDA plates and ordered some PDA from Amazon - in case my failed. I placed everything onto agar - old and new pans and B+. Everything came through except the NEW Jamaican Pans Cyan?? I have 28 plates total, 8 did not come through and those are the NEW pans on 3 different agar recipes 2 PEA and 1 LMEA. My other fear is that the OLD Jamaican Pans Cyan may not be real, as I have ordered from grow kit supplier before and something white, looking like myc started growing before I could inoculate them. Kinda wish I would have put that on agar, but I got into the agar game late. Sorry for the book, i ty s just I really want Jamaican Pans Cyans....

Try this. He recommends this right on his site for pans.

My only concern then is I had no problems growing the pans from the pint jars on 3 different recipes. So either the old is not pans or transfering to agar from spores on aluminum foil is different from transfering from inculated pint jars? Or the last option is that there was something wrong with the new spores to begin with?

Research hydrating your spores in a syringe. Ive seen a tek for forced hydration. Id just load them in a syringe and let them sit a few days personally though.

Thanks. I will look into this as I only scrapped the aluminum foil with a loop and placed on agar.

premade shit sux most of the time id stay away from that garbage especially if your wanting to grow pans. also ditch the heat mat. room temp is perfect and a sab is the way to go that oven crap is just not reliable and in no way would i trust it. i dont know if this is your first grow or not im just assuming here but i would suggest gettin some cube grows under your belt and get them down solid before takin on something as picky as pans are about their growing conditions.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to get the Pans started on agar as I have heard that they are tuff to grow, but I was hoping they would not be tuff to grow on agar. I do have some B+ grows under my belt and my agar plates look and perform better than the premade plates I ordered from Amazon. I will keep pushing forward. Thanks everyone
