Blower Motor Wiring
    #26494786 - 02/20/20 09:37 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I'm new and I'm not sure if I'm correct forum but I recently bought a Dayton blower motor, model 1TDU2 that can be wired for either 120v or 240v. I want to wire a plug to it for 120v operation. The wire colors on the plug a typical White(Neutral), Black(Power or Hot) and Green(Ground). There are five colored wires on the motor, White, Black Blue, Orange and Red. I would assume that the white wire on the plug would be wired to the white wire on the motor but what confuses me is that for 220v operation, it shows the blue wire on the motor being wired to the black wire on the plug, yet for 120v operation, it appears that the blue and the black wires on the motor are both wired to the black wire on the plug. In both cases it doesn't show the red or orange wires wired to anything. If anyone knows how to do this or knows what forum I should be in, I would greatly appreciate it. My name is Ken. Thanks very much.

This is what you're looking at right?

It looks like for 120v, orange would be connected to red on the motor itself (wire nut these two together), and then white wire from motor to white(neutral) on your plug, and then both the black and blue wires from the motor would connect to the black(hot) on your plug. Then make sure you connect the ground that I presume it has.

The orange and reds are used on either/or case just wired to other leads on the motor. So for example if you were to wire it for 240, you would connect the white to one leg from the 240, cap off the orange wire with a wire nut, wire nut red and black from the motor together, and then connect blue to the other leg from the 240 plug.
