Fuzzy mycelium on agar

My prepoured petri dishes grew mycelium the way I expected, flat in a branching fan pattern (left). I've done several batches of Prof's No-Pour Agar Agar Tek with various recipes and the mycelium all seem to get fuzzy. This recipe is 400ml water, 6g LME, 7g agar powder (right).
All the recipes I've used have called for LME. I thought that was ideal, but mine seem to turn out fuzzy. This dish in particular looks like it's growing a wig. It also has a dark fuzzy core. I don't think it's contam, but... what do you think? The no pour on the right is from a Golden Teacher spore syringe. Any suggestions, or should I just put up with the fuzz?

could be aerial mycelium, something to do with it reaching for air. some people might say its cobweb. i think it looks ok. but just transfer it, does it have gas exchange?

If anything it would have too much FAE, or at least more than the petri dish. The bigger question is, what is the best agar recipe to be more like the pre-poured dishes? Should I be using potatoes? As far as contam, I use multiple agar dishes and pick the best one to continue with, and I won't be using the one in the picture. My other agar is still fuzzy, but there's no black heart, whatever that is.

Wow, that was contam. Luckily I did a second jar... and that is why I will never go directly from syringe to inoculation, ever.
I guess this agar recipe works but I'll be on the look out for something that doesn't fuzz out as much.

Mycelium can fuzz out and get whispy or strong and rhizo, The big give away is the base sporelating green

I gotta lay off the crazy pills. I have so far seen rhizo growth that looks nearly identical to that jar, aerial mycelium and all. No contamination issues whatsoever. I should probably check my color-blindness too.

Maybe it is the angle, but it looks like someone had a campfire burn out underneath the whispy mycelium in the second picture.

I see that and could be shadow or angle or a huge contamination.
OP update us with pics!!
