Does anyone like to ponder deep philosophical questions during their trips? * 1
    #26493025 - 02/19/20 08:34 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

Today, I'm going in on 3.5g of golden teachers and and I plan on journaling / documenting my trip for the first time. I want to go in to the experience with some deep questions or ideas to think about when I'm in a state of enhanced perspective. Does anyone else do this? What are some questions or topics you like to ponder whilst tripping?

So far the questions I have are:
- what's more obscure; the thought of extraterrestrial life or being completely alone in the universe?

-did human DNA drift through space from a different planet and eventually land on earth? If so I what is our ancestors home planet is like

- what is outside of the universe?

- are mushrooms celestial beings?

- does psilocybin make you trip as a defence mechanism against predators?

- where did I put that joint I rolled last night?

Thanks for reading everyone! See you on the other side🍄✌

Mushrooms are basically my Holodeck program with Aristotle, Nietzsche, Rumi, Lao Tzu, and Carl Sagan all waiting there to continue our discussion.

I don't necessarily go into my trips with questions in mind, but my mind always has a backlog of things I've pondered, so, I have a bit of a pool to splash around in.

Psilocin is a defense from insects.
"In the basic and oxidative environment of insect guts,
such compounds act as producers of reactive oxygen species
and can thus create intestinal lesions which is presumably their
main mode of toxic action.. "

I don't think mushrooms had us in mind when they developed that. It's just something we (kind of) benefit from.

Serotonin and psilocin are so chemically similar though!

I have only tried this alone, so from my perspective I think it would work better if there are two of you. Many years ago I used to take LSD with my ex, and the back end of those trips were always spent discussing such philosophical concepts. I remember one discussion centring around the number 3; we came to the conclusion that everything in the universe boiled down to the number 3. We had some convincing arguments that night, though cannot remember them now!

About a year ago, I made up a number of cards with questions on them and left them lying around the house to spark analysis as and when I came across them. The messages I prepared are as follows (think I might have robbed them from Google!):-

  • What is your happiest childhood memory? Why is it so special?
  • Where do thoughts come from?
  • If everybody you know is going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?
  • Is there a reason to life?
  • If you replaced every part of a ship, is it still the same ship? (Related to human cells replacing themselves something like every 7 years - are you still you?)
  • Do you know what real evil is? Do you know what real good is?

When I’m tripping alone, I find it hard to maintain an intention, and generally don’t fight a trip, I’ll instead “go with the flow”. So might have to try the above list again, if and when I find someone to trip with......

Is that true, footpath? I ask because the amount of maggots you often get in picked liberty caps can be huge!

- what is outside of the universe? A cold, dark, and lonely void, beyond god. I went there 33 years ago and have suffered existential distress more or less since.

- are mushrooms celestial beings? Yes. They’re beautiful beings.

- where did I put that joint I rolled last night? Found it months later down the side of the settee. As I’d given up cigarettes for 8 months I threw it in the bin. Then when wifey went to bed. I dug it out of the bin and smoked it. Within a week I was back full time smoking cigarettes 🤬

Oh, right. Aliens.
Aliens definitely implanted the code for serotonin into our DNA and brought these cosmic lifeforms as a tool to keep us from discovering their meddlings on our primitive planet.

Or.... y'know... metabolism.

That's the standing theory:

Those are some awesome questions that get me really thinking even sober. I will also have my SO with me to trip sit but she will be sober. This is typically the case and she does a good job at helping me steer my trip because she knows me so well. And it's funny that I've wondered the same thing about cell reproduction and us being completely new physical beings after 7 years.

I had no idea there were only those two options.

I always try to be introspective, but I always go nuts in my trips and forget about it pretty easily.

:whathesaid:

A lot of what you intend to bring into a trip just goes right out the window when the experience actually starts.

Anything "profound" that I ponder during a trip arises within the trip itself and not before. Meaning, whatever I learned I didn't consciously intend to develop during the trip, it just sort of happened.

But I'm a big proponent of just letting the trip organically happen. I've tried to "control" a trip, set intentions or what to think about, etc, all to be plowed into the floor and forget everything I planned as the giggles arise on the come up.

Being alone for sure... infinite worlds, infinite possibilities.  And we only have a small number of senses, life/entities/whatever could exist that we have no ability to perceive.

Fun thought but I think we evolved right here on earth.

what is outside of the universe?

Gotta call it the known universe.  A paradoxical question, it boggles the mind.
Quote:

are mushrooms celestial beings?

Yes, atoms are fused by the stars so we come from stardust.  Can spores survive intergalactic space?  People claim freezing temps here on our own planet kill spores, so likelihood is that they evolved alongside humanity.  A terrestrial companion.

I only wish all my enemies wanted me to trip balls.

Got you covered right here

Philosophy?  Nah.  Too much other stuff going on to get lost in that.  :cookiemonster:

Hands are deep.

I think most of my philosophy comes in when things start winding down.
As primal said - when you're in the thick of it, there's too much other shit going on to really concern yourself with much other than hands.

Sometimes something seems so profound on mushrooms that you write it down and when you wake up the next day you find it’s not quite so mind blowing. Or, equally likely, gibberish

Yeah, that's an afterglow sort of thing, contemplation of ineffables.  The majesty of life, interconnections, that sort of thing.
