Would a room Air Purifier with a HEPA filter be useful for reducing possible contams?

Would running an air purifier with a HEPA filter in the room which one grows in be helpful with reducing the possible contams flying around? Would it hurt colonizing jars, tubs etc, in any way?
I also saw ones that also have UV in them. Would this be harmful in any way to grows?
(I'm not looking for this for contam reduction purposes. Actually I want one to help with allergies and such but am wondering what, if any, effect it would have on grows.)
Thanks all!

Build a FH, does everything you need in this case.

I'm guessing the UV light is inside the machine not shining out so it shouldn't harm anything (not that I think UV light would do anything).
But having air moving around while you work probably isn't the best idea since it stops the dust settling so I wouldn't be running it while working. Probably best to turn it off half an hour before.
But if it gets crap out of the air then I don't see how it would harm things.

Would an FH be useful for filtering the air of the entire room. I don't know much about flowhoods.

Yes the UV is inside (as part of killing whatever it captures I assume).
And I wouldn't be running it while doing sterile work, as you said stirring up the air isn't a smart idea. Would it hurt shoeboxes that I have if they have the lids flipped for air? Or colonizing jars (either BRF or grains)

It will reduce particulate matter in the air space but whenever you use a SAb in the same room just cut it off 15 mins prior [along with other fans and HVAC] to allow the air to become still during any inoculations or transfers.
I use the desktop model 4100 by germ guardian. [$55 Amazon] Judging by the crap trapped in the small A type hepa filter id say it helps reduce air particles very well in a room 80sqft or less.
A FH is obviously better but if you cant utilize one now then an efficient hepa filter unit will benefit air quality some. Steril technique still supersedes and the filter shoukd onky be used for keeping air in a room relativley cleaner.

Mini filter units, with or without UV, are not very effective. A big ol FH however will scrub a room fairly well and is great for sterile work. Seems like a win win for OP.

Awesome thanks! I always make sure to get the air settled before my SAB work, and like I said, this is more for allergens that I struggle with but I want to make sure it won't hurt my grows.

Awesome, I'll look into a flowhood as well. Can they be purchased built or do they need to be assembled?

If your savvy you can build a proper FH for less than $400 and a days worth of labor. Retail units can range from $700-2000
