I.d / edibility Jelly Fungus
    #26491056 - 02/18/20 02:04 AM (3 years, 11 months ago)

I'm pretty new to mycology.
I've read jelly fungus was edible but I was hoping for a specific ID if possible.

Also edible and enjoyable are a reach sometimes anyone have experience?

Also I believe this is the same species at different maturity levels. Correct?

Looks like a species of Auricularia, and yes they are most likely same species in different stages of maturity.
As for edibility, there are species in this genus that are eaten, mainly in Asian cuisine, I've bought them dried a
couple of times but they don't really add much to be honest. The texture is rubbery.

That's what we are here for...I have alot of respect for this website and all of its TI's the world of fungi is amazing and all of the people on this website dedicate their time to helping people study and ID species on the daily...Just remember to always ID before you eat any kind of fungi it's a very safe practice and saves lives...That being said look up wood ear soups if you want to give them a try and i would like to know what you think about them if u do
