I'm extremely ADHD but have not noticed for like 11 years
    #26489995 - 02/17/20 01:12 PM (3 years, 11 months ago)

Hello again my fellow lovelies. I wanted to chat a bit about ADHD, Prescriptions for ADHD kids and adults and Cannabis.

First off. I sort of just realized I know very little of what medically defines ADHD. Is ADHD simply diagnosed through behavioral observation? or is there some sort a different neuro-chemical balance with ADHD kids / adults?

When I was diagnosed with ADHD at like 7, It was through a computer test at ADHD psych therapist office. He set a lab-top on the desk in front of me and ran this program. It had 3 or 4 different modes it went through, all pretty similar. It began with just this black screen and I was told to "Press the space bar every time I see the letter X."

So every 10 seconds a single Big white random letter would pop up on the screen for about 0.5 to 1 second. I think there was about 8 letter X's I spotted.
After about 5 minutes of that He stopped the test fiddle with the computer a bit and ran the test again. This time the letters would appear at random intervals instead of counts of 10 and lasted about 5 minutes.
The 3rd round added another element to the test where the letters where now different sizes too. some pretty small where you really had to be waiting for the next letter catch it.
That's all I remember from the test, but apparently that concluded I had high chance of ADHD?

When interacting with kids my own age back then as a child and making my own observations, it was straight up like my brain was on hyper drive and was just always going 4 times faster than my body could keep up which was still pretty damn fast. I guess looking back I can see how then schools had no fucking idea how to deal with kids like that, so doctors just dose them with amphetamines to keep them robotic and school throws them in with the Special Ed kids back then, lol straight up One Flew Over the Cuckcoo's Nest type feel.

Anyway, once I tried Cannabis it was straight up like a switch got flipped in my brain, Like this was the medication, basically the cure to whatever hyper patterning my brain is hard wired for. It was so instinctual and obvious I was just astounded that everything I heard about cannabis was like the absolute opposite.

I have smoked everyday since age 14 and was content with being hyper-stoned all day forever. Until being too stoned interfered with other aspects of my life, like meeting new people, feeling new emotions, Perusing new opportunity etc. Well I cut back A LOT but now that I have sustained this new level of THC consumption I'm realizing that I actually do have ADHD and that ADHD may really be a real thing?

I sort of feel the only thing that will help me more with this would be meditation.

Naval/belly breathing to work on being more calm, and maybe mantras to focus attention. Naval breathing is pretty awesome if you stick with it. It's the only kind of "body" meditation I've found that causes relaxation rather than stimulation.

Being in good physical shape lowers heart rate so a physical job or exercise routine could be helpful. Hobbies that are physical might be more feasible than exercise if you find exercise boring.

Are there certain times of the year when your ADHD is worse? Inflammation caused by allergies or other sources might play a part.

Of course, I'm no doctor... but you didn't come here to ask doctors.

Why don’t you cut back a little as opposed to a lot from your initial stoner levels.  Behaviorally there’s many different things you could do to help yourself.  As far as the drug goes sounds like you’re fixin for some ganja.

Are you questioning this so called "diagnostic method" that confirmed you have a brain disorder 11 years ago? You're smart to ponder how such a test as you were given would reveal a neurochemical imbalance. How many times during the last decade have you retaken the test to see if you still have this disorder? Or were you told you have this brain defect for the rest of your life?

Drunk thoughts from an ADHD diagnosed as a child and now adult person:

Any test that cant be proven through more scientific means than "Oh he seems distracted" is bullshit.

I am SURE there is something that exists that is like "adhd". But our doctors dont know shit about it and are grasping at straws.

You do you man. Whatever makes you HAPPIER is all that fucking matters. If taking some pills does that.... right on. If not taking them does..... right on. Ignore EVERYONES opinion on the matter. Focus on what YOU feel. You are the ONLY thing that matters. Dont think youre being selfish.

ALSO. Make sure you EAT HEALTHY and EXERCISE! So many people DONT do these things. They are VITAL

VITAL VITAL VITAL VITAL!

If you argue with me that they are not vital.... and that you think you have a valid excuse for not doing them both....

You are WRONG.

*sips high calorie alcoholic beverage*

No hypocrisy here for sure.

Yeah I'm not sure how they diagnose people for ADHD now days. I never had been re-diagnosed but It might be good for me to look into that and get tested again.

That's my other question is what the hell even is ADHD? Is it really some sort of neurochemical "defect" or "imbalance" or is just what low tier super-human capabilities are? lol, I joke, but only slightly hah.
