I checked out my casings today that have been in the fruiting chamber for 2 days now. I noticed really really strong bruising all over the top where the verm is. (pure verm casing layer). I thought it was covered in mold but i rubbed it with a q-tip and it didnt rub off onto it. Also its a very blue color not green like green mold. Anybody know why its doing this? I hope my casings are ok :/

What flush are you on? They will bruise when they are losing moisture.

if you're on the first flush, then you've definitely done something wrong.

lol yep first flush. It still smells like fresh mushrooms though, doesn't stink. When i put the casings in the fruiting chamber, i brushed off the extra verm. could that be why its bruised?
Maybe i should add more verm and incubate it a few days more? Any suggestions welcome.

i have the same problem. I was gone for a week unable to attend to my babies and the shrooms started growing inside the jars. I birthed them yesterday and i can tell that the mushrooms themselves will be bruised. what i'm asking is if it's ok to eat the bruised shrooms? do they lose potency with bruising? am i at risk of being poisened?!? please give me some advice, this is my first flush and i'm extremely paranoid. other than the bruising from the jars, they look and smell great. any hep is appreciated!

its ok to eat bruised shroomes. they'll usually even bruise a bit when picked and dried. its just oxidation of the psylocybin.

These are PF cakes that are cased? I don't see why the casing would be bruising like that. I've seen PF casings turn a bluish tint when they dry out a bit, but not like you're talking about. You crumbled the cakes up when you cased them, right? And they don't bruise when you mangle them like that. So why would brushing off some vermiculite bruise them? I'm sorry I don't really have any answers, just throwing out some questions that popped up in my mind.

Yea i crumbled before casing. Let sit in incubater 2 days or so and patched once, then took em out, scraped off the extra verm and put em in the fruiting chamber. Checked em a day later and they were really blue in some spots on the somewhat visible top later.
