So I was spawning 10 qts of spawn and thought I had enough substrate to do it with. I ran short and have 4 qts already broken up Is it ok to just spawn it tomorow ? Or will it stall it because of being beat up a lot ? ANy insight would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Yeah, it’ll be fine. Some people used to let their grain recover a bit on purpose before spawning. It’s useless but won’t do much harm.

Not true. Observing recovery after a shake let’s you know that your spawn is at least viable.
OP, yes your spawn will be just fine, as long as it’s not contaminated. It’ll recover and keep growing. I shake at 100% and let recover before spawning to make sure my spawn is strong and then I spawn, which is what you did by accident.

Really wanting to spawn this soon. I may just spawn tomorow. If it goes bad. Atleast I’ll know never to do it again.

That’s true. I was just referring to what I remember some people doing years ago - waiting for the spawn to recover so it’s “stronger” when you spawn. Supposed to reduce chances of contam...can’t find any links now but it was deff on the ‘ry. Didn’t sound like he’s worried about contams in that particular scenario, but yeah, I shake colonized jars if they look suspicious too.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. You guys rock They definitely do not contamed. They’re agar to grain. I just wasn’t sure if it would run into any problems with like a tub stalling. Mycology Is learning process so I’m gonna spawn them tomorow and take notes
