I did coir and verm, and mixed it all up together with my spawn. Didn’t do layering, just mixed it all up all over. Then I just put a light sprinkle on the top from the left over substrate just to barely cover the surface.
My other two jars I’m still keeping incubated just to see if the growth changes any at all or becomes more covered or anything. I still waited a couple of days on the others I just spawned, but there were no significant changes really anywhere, so based on that and from others saying it looks time to spawn I came to a decision that they must be colonized after nothing more happening for a couple days. I don’t think millet gets completely solid white everywhere, and that’s what I was expecting and waiting for, but believe you’re right - it tends to colonize a little differently and won’t be completely solid white everywhere. Everyone else also told me on here it looked good, healthy, and ready to go so I just went for it today. Whenever I broke open my spawn jars it smelled like fresh mushrooms too, so that’s a good sign also!
So now hopefully the fruiting stage begins!!! I’m going unmodified and just letting it sit. I spawned straight to fruiting conditions, 12/12 light cycle, and I’m going to flip the lid up on the latches in the next couple of days to start FAE once I see the substrate start to colonize a little. I used 2 jars of spawn, and with all the millet with the maximum number of inoculation points I hope I get a decent colonization rate and time. In your experience about how long should if generally take for the substrate to colonize? One week?
